international students and law suits

Tolulope Oduba's insight:

universities not only because they add diversity but also because they pay a higher tuition rate (e.g. Keller, 2008; Marklein, 2009).

The biggest issue some Ohio State international students said they face doesn’t have to do with their time enrolled at the university.

Tolulope Oduba's insight:

“It comes down to drawing a name out of a hat,” Garcia said of his experience applying for permits to extend his stay in the U.S. “If you’re not among the lucky ones, then you don’t get to stay.”

Last year, when his training program was set to expire, he applied for the H-1B visa. But his request wasn’t granted. So faced with the option of having to leave his job and return to Spain, he took a big step: He enrolled in GVSU’s Master’s of Business Administration program.

“The moment you mention I’m not a U.S. citizen, that I would need sponsorship to be able to work, a lot of companies would just be like ‘Oh, well nevermind. We’re not willing to take that risk with you,’”
