Durban - The government is hoping recent changes to environmental laws will reduce the number of sham rhino hunts, by closing loopholes exploited by professional hunters and hunting outfitters.... Although the department did not refer to specific examples, there have been cases of several rhinos being shot by foreign “hunters” in different provinces, under the pretext of legal trophy hunting. The horns were then exported to Vietnam and other Far East nations for use in traditional medicine....

And it is still!  The pain and suffering of the animal, usually a top predator, the disruption to that animal's family unit, the negative impacts on the ecosystem when that animal is taken out of it's enviroment are not taken into account by selfish trophy hunters.

VIDEO: Special Assignment - The Con in Conservation

In this episode we investigate the so-called "green con", where volunteers are paying exorbitant amounts to come to South Africa to hand raise lion cubs under the impression that they are doing it for conservation. Activists allege that most of these cubs end up in a "canned" hunt or as breeding robots for farms.

We also focus on the alleged abuse of the permit system for the breeding and hunting of lion and ask whether the country needs to have standardised regulations across all provinces.

If you simply must hang an elephant head on your wall why not consider one like this?

Cheaper, more politically correct, nobody dies and you can even use it to hang your favorite elephant photos on if you like.
