Next year's Spring/Summer season at the Abbey Theatre will feature two new Irish productions, which will be staged back-to-back.

 

The historic venue will continue its ongoing commitment to young and up-and-coming Irish writers with debuts for Drum Belly and Shush. Richard Dormer's Drum Belly, which will run from April 10 to May 11, is set at the time of the first moon landing and centres on the Irish mafia in Brooklyn, New York.

His novel The Eskimo in the Net (Marion Boyars Publishers) was shortlisted for the Kerry Group Irish Fiction Award and was selected by the Literary Editor of the Daily Express  as his Book of the Year “scandalously ignored by the Man Booker judges...”. His recent collection of stories was shortlisted for the Danuta Gleed Literary Award.
