When one thinks of receiving medical attention, they don't think of iPads. The saying "technology is the wave of the future" is true, though, and mobile technology is beginning to work into how doctors diagnose illnesses and talk to their patients.

Using a MOOC to Teach Emerging Technologies #MOOCMOOC | rjh.goingeast.ca

Emerging technologies in education is a 12-lesson online course that explores the use of emerging technologies within the field of education. Throughout this course, learners are exposed to emerging technologies. Through their exploration and hands-on project, each learner will develop their own framework for evaluating emerging technologies within their teaching context.

The MOOC within the course serves multiple purposes: it provides learners with an opportunity to experience a MOOC as a learner (I consider a MOOC to be an emerging technology), and it provides learners with an opportunity to faciliate a topic using several emerging technologies.

Why Evernote is a must have application for medical professionals, especially those in training.

 

Recommends Evernote as a really useful app for thos in residency. One issue is that is that offline access from your device is no longer free - but the cost reasonable.

 The article is a bit long, but it provides some good examples of iPads in medical practice as well as medical education. One of the apps developed by the Ottawa Hospital sounds interesting. It uses the iPad to help patients communicate their pain levels to doctors.
