"Screenshots are a useful, if not essential, skill for both students and teachers to have, but with so many devices out there, it can be hard to remember how to take a screenshot on an iPad, a Chromebook, a Mac or whatever else you might be using in your classroom. So, here is a quick rundown of all the native methods to do this, as well as a couple of recommendations for third-party services that will give you even more options."

Teaching the Essential Skills of the Mobile Classroom - Edutopia

Teaching the Essential Skills of the Mobile Classroom - Edutopia | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it

"Think back 20 years. Pay phones still worked, and only doctors carried pagers. Laptops weighed as much as bowling balls, and few of us had Internet access. In fact, much of what we now consider commonplace -- Google, email, WiFi, texting -- was not even possible. If that was 20 years ago, where are we going in the next 20?

We are all going mobile! Tablets, smartphones, Chromebooks -- and yet, these devices only serve as the most recent iteration of mobile technology in the classroom. Remember Netbooks? How about those old-school Macbooks that looked like toilet seat covers? What if we go back further? What about chalk and slate?"

Almighty Photo is a slick photo album and editor for iOS

Almighty Photo is a slick photo album and editor for iOS | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it

"

I originally thought Almighty Photo (US$2.99) was another me-too photo editor, but quickly saw that the app was much more than that. It's an innovative and powerful approach to photo management and editing. The app is designed to browse and organize your photo libraries. It never touches the originals, but gives you a new way to display and make sense of your photos. Almighty Photo is a great app for people who have lots of photos on their iOS devices."

Apps in Education: Editing Video on your iPad

Apps in Education: Editing Video on your iPad | iPads, MakerEd and More in Education | Scoop.it

"Making movies on the iPad is one of those activities that I often see in schools. I love to watch how quickly even very young students can produce a professional looking movie. It is a great way for them to illustrate what they have learnt. Normally I would say that editing movies on the iPad is best done using iMovie but it is not exactly cheap, especially if you have a raft of other apps you want your students to have. Here are a couple of apps for editing movies that do not cost the earth. Many of these apps also contain features found on the more expensive apps."
