Make kids get phone licence, says expert...''There is absolutely no point in banning them because it is going to be the central part of their education. This would at least ensure they have the skills, the knowledge, strategies and basic competencies before they've brought the device to school,'' Dr Carr-Gregg said.

Why It’s Critical for the Next Gen to Be Tech Creators Not Consumers

Why It’s Critical for the Next Gen to Be Tech Creators Not Consumers | Penny Macs technology links | Scoop.it
According to Ayah Bdeir, technology is the language of our time. The 33-year-old founder and CEO of littleBits likes to compare the engineers of today to the clergy of the Middle Ages, who controlled access to knowledge and power via their monopoly over the use and understanding of the written word. Nowadays, Technology is an essential part in people life and for that plays an important role in her personal and professional growth. It is the reason for what teachers need to include the use of it in their class lessons and have to be update with the different plataforms, tools, sites ,etc that we can find in the web and likewise install in our technological devices in order to help students in their learning process and facilitate the teaching process.
I agree with what this article says "educational technologies are touching new heights" since I cosider that every day there are more online spaces which learners can use to develop their skills in various fields and proffesors can use as a mean to do students learnning more effective.

Pokemon Go! The app that will get the kids outdoors - Kidspot

Pokemon Go! The app that will get the kids outdoors - Kidspot | Penny Macs technology links | Scoop.it
Welcome to the extraordinary new virtual world of Pokémon Go -an addictive new app that’s blurring the lines between reality and fantasy with its use of augmented reality technology and, in the process, causing the world to go into a Pokémon Frenzy!

You think I’m being overly dramatic, don’t you? I’m not. Pokemon Go was launched just last week in Australia, New Zealand and the USA and further rollout is currently suspended due to overwhelming demand. That’s right! It is TOO popular and is breaking the game’s servers.

Periodic table of #STEAM iPad apps | Penny Macs technology links | Scoop.it
First things first. As I started in my last periodic table post, it’s never just about the apps. End of. That said being guided around tried and tested apps from the classroom can be really helpful.

This new periodic table looks at #STEAM apps, namely those that can link through to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths. My massive thanks go to Brett Salakas, Cathy Hunt, Dean Pearman and Rachel Smith for letting me run the table under their gaze and for feeding forward some of the app ideas too.

Pokémon Go is getting lazy kids outside

Pokémon Go is getting lazy kids outside | Penny Macs technology links | Scoop.it

Finally, kids are getting outside and having fun.

Instead of celebrating, though, some parents and experts are shaking their heads at the potential ramifications. The culprit: Pokémon Go, the augmented reality game that has taken the United States by storm over the past week.

The concerns have merit: Injuries have been reported, as well as eyebrow-raising reports of robbers catching players unaware as they try to catch the cartoon characters bouncing across their screens. But there is an upside: Kids are finally exploring the world around them. In running to find Pokémon this summer, kids have stumbled upon the classic childhood pleasure of joyfully exploring the outdoors.
