How To Quickly Rip A CD Onto Your iPad/iPhone In Ten Minutes Without iTunes

How To Quickly Rip A CD Onto Your iPad/iPhone In Ten Minutes Without iTunes | Ipad in the Music Classroom | Scoop.it

"I used to have a ton of CDs. I spent a fortune back over ten years ago collecting them. Now they are all sitting in boxes in my garage. Literally. I almost NEVER use CDs anymore. I don’t even own a CD player. My MacBook Pro doesn’t have a DVD/CD Drive; only my aging PC can play CDs in my house.

The days of the CD are almost over. I purchase all my music digitally.

However, there will be times when you need to rip* a CD to get it on your iDevices. Yes, the traditional way would be to use iTunes and attach your iPad/iPhone to your computer. But what if you’re in a hurry, perhaps at work, without your own computer, and you really would like a digital copy without the hassle of iTunes?"

Creating Music with iPads - iPad and Technology in Music Education

Creating Music with iPads - iPad and Technology in Music Education | Ipad in the Music Classroom | Scoop.it

"One area that I don’t have time to explore very often during the school year is creating music on my iPad. It seems with all the day to day activities of teaching that I totally loose touch with musical explorations and composing. I’ve been taking more time lately to do this and I am floored at what I can do with an iPad and a few apps. I am not going to give you a history lesson here but I will say that at one time in my career I dreamed of creating a wonderful MIDI lab outfitted with computers, keyboards, speakers and mixers for my students to use. That dream never happened because of the crazy cost involved. My dream has been reshaped. Here is what I’ve found…."

Wonderful technological developments, making music creating accessbile and engaging for everyone.

Cristian Barkan's curator insight, December 9, 2013 12:10 PM

I think this is pretty cool, if you have a iPad you can make music by just downloading apps.  You can take a iPad anywhere, you can be bored, or sitting somewhere ust waiting and  you can just pulled out your ipad and start making music and that is of course if you are into music.

Alanis Tittemore's curator insight, December 7, 2014 1:27 PM

The involvement the Apple products has had in the music industry is just amazing. In Mr. Shimmons article, he mentions all the new apps created to make music that sounds somewhat professional at a very low to no cost. This news all that bad considering now humans can teach the youth how to compose music and possibly make it easier to learn instruments. However, it is becoming a growing problem for the industry itself because everyone wants to be their 'own producer' and people are paying less for record labels.

19 Free iPad Apps for Musical Creativity: Play, Improvise and Record Music

19 Free iPad Apps for Musical Creativity: Play, Improvise and Record Music | Ipad in the Music Classroom | Scoop.it
Part 1 in a series of 5 articles featuring Top Free iPad Music Apps For Teachers.

Really, there are so many apps available it can be hard to know where to begin and once you find something that looks useful, it’s difficult to assess it properly until you’ve download and installed it on your iPad. iPad music apps that are free can take away the risk of choosing a dud and they can be useful when book-listing apps for students on a tight budget.

Over time, I’ve collected quite a number of free apps on my iPad. Generally speaking, paid apps are nearly always better – they are ad-free, there are fewer necessary in-app purchases to make the app functional, there are more features and they’re better-supported (something that’s often overlooked when deciding between free vs paid).

The following list of apps fall into the “creativity” category. This is the first post in a 5-part series – there were simply too many to list in a single post!. The five parts are as follows:

Part 1 – 19 Free iPad Apps for Musical Creativity: Play, Improvise and RecordPart 2 – 16 Free iPad Apps To Play and Learn Musical InstrumentsPart 3 – 9 Free iPad Apps To Help You Discover Orchestral Music and Explore SoundPart 4 – 8 Free iPad Apps for Ear-Training and LiteracyPart 5 – 10 Free iPad Music Tool Apps

"Good news for music teachers. We have just learned about a great booklet full of educational music apps for iPad. It is really amazing how much time and effort Samuel must have invested in this project. He reviewed several musical apps and included them into awesome visual boards with clickable icons of each app leading to its store link where you can download it."

"Spreaker DJ app is available for iPad, iPhone or Android  devices and also available at www.spreaker.com . Spreaker transforms your device into a full-featured radio station, allowing you to mix your voice with your music library and a range of sound effects. Broadcast your lessons live or have students broadcast their learning by running their own radio station during the lessons. Students can create podcasts that could be listen to after the lesson as a form of revision or to review their learning. Students and teachers can easily share their shows via twitter, Facebook or email.  Another excellent feature is the ability to chat to the DJs during the show and could be used as an excellent way to increase the interaction between students all over the world."

Very engaging for students.  Great for language teachers who would like to work on speaking skills!

Laura Jaramillo's curator insight, September 11, 2013 9:01 PM

Now on iPad, iPhone and Android you are able to use applications to create your very own radio station with effects, mix the tracks and in the order you would like them to be heard. You are able to create podcast, you are able to DJ with this application and all you will need is an iPad and your music library.
