OSX Daily: How to Access & Use the Undo & Redo Buttons on iPad

OSX Daily: How to Access & Use the Undo & Redo Buttons on iPad | IPad como herramienta educativa | Scoop.it

"Much like OS X and Windows on the desktop, iOS on the iPad has an “Undo” and “Redo” option. Undo does just what it sounds like, it undoes the last text based action. For example, if you typed out a sentence but decided it wasn’t what you wanted to say, you could hit “Undo” and it would instantly disappear. Redo is also fairly self explanatory, as it redoes the prior text action that was just undone. For example, if you wanted to restore that sentence you typed out but made disappear with “Undo”, then hitting “Redo” would make it appear again."

Patricia Daniels's curator insight, August 30, 2013 3:37 AM

A useful video tutorial here, just over 16 minutes long. It runs through the basics of using Google drive and how you can use it to collaborate with others. It also touches on Google Hangout.

I use Google Drive with my students as a writing space because I teach English via Skype. It suits our needs perfectly. Students create several folders e.g. some are homework spaces; collaborative areas such as wikis; creative writing pages and as a virtual space that we can jump into during the lesson to work on activities. It works for us. As a teacher I can dip into shared spaces at any time and guide and support learning which is a real advantage.

flea palmer's curator insight, August 30, 2013 6:56 AM

This is a really thorough tutorial and very timely as I'm currently exploring using Google Drive with students. Our dispersed team of Learning Technologists already use it for collaboration but there is not much use as yet by our academics and students. The ability to be able to integrate Drive with Google Hangouts is really powerful and has the potential to be a great tool for supporting Distance Learning.

Paula Jamieson's curator insight, May 9, 2013 5:23 PM

I have been having 'battery' issues with my iPhone so this post was timely. I use my iphone for personally and professional use almost 24/7 and often the battery is not lasting the day (particularly when I use camera/video/email/social networking/fitness tracking apps all day eg weekends!) I don't personally agree with all of it. In my opinion, by disabling some of this features you are also 'depowering' the device. I do agree with disabling the Location Services feature on 'unnecessary' apps that you don't regularly use. I also agree with disabling  the Notifications function on many apps (I've just done this on the majority of mine so will be interested to see if it makes a difference.). As with any 'tips and tricks' type advice I'd give it a go (as long as it is on a 'surface' level and not delving into the inner workings of the device and also that you have the confidence to 'revert' things if you need to), if it makes a difference for you then it was worth it.

My Framework for Teaching with iPad Apps

My Framework for Teaching with iPad Apps | IPad como herramienta educativa | Scoop.it

"Working at Pilgrims Teacher Training, we have developed our framework for ICT courses with Kristina Smith. Last year, I started teaching with an iPad, so I adapted the framework for teaching with iPad apps.

The framework consists of five categories:

1- Searching: Searching for information (It is also necessary to introduce search engines for apps, such as quixey and appcrawlr)

2-Bookmarking: Bookmarking websites to save them online, and to be able to find them later

3- Organizing: Organizing materials online

4- Creating: Creating multimedia materials

5- Sharing: Finally, sharing the materials on social networking sites"

How To Create A Paperless Classroom With Your iPad

How To Create A Paperless Classroom With Your iPad | IPad como herramienta educativa | Scoop.it

"The idea of a paperless classroom is not new.

In fact, there was recently one very good blog, TeachPaperless, dedicated to this very idea. In short, the idea promotes not just a reduction of paper and other physical resources, but rather a more efficient workflow, quicker communication, improved access to learning materials, seamless digital portfolios, and more naturally connected student-teacher-student networks."

It is still a wonder to me why in this day of technological advancement, that there isn't a laptop or tablet on every desk in every school across the nation. Technology, need to be integrated more with the teaching and learning of our students.
