Several people at this multinational dairy company talk about the new way of working they would like to promote with the new SharePoint-based intranet.
A few screenshots pass, showing a colourful clean design.
Great demo of the intranet of the city of Burwood in Australia. It has a nice but simple setup and can be re-used for a long time.
After a short introduction by a person, several people demo a part of the intranet in turn. The different voices keep it lively and interesting.
The intranet has all the usual trimmings, including a chatterbox and commenting on news, policies, IT ticketing system etc. Apparently there is also a separate document management system, because the intranet is not supposed to be a dumping ground for documents. Well said!
Video about the launch of the new SharePoint intranet for a housing organization in The Hague, Netherlands. They organized a meeting at each of their two locations, with food and drink, and gave a short demo about the new intranet.
The second part of the video is about why they have chosen for a certain partner.
Quite an interesting video, this one. This person calls himself a dinosaur, but "he is able to use the intranet without calling the helpdesk. And if I can, you can do it too".
There are a couple more videos in this vein from IHTSDO, the International Health Terminology Standards Development Organization from Denmark.
Introduction video of the actual launch party of OneSkanska, the intranet for international construction company Skanska (originally from Sweden). Everyone appears to be very happy!
A fun video to introduce the company's new intranet based on the all staff training western theme.
Ellen van Aken's insight:
(This video does not have a default image set, hence it looks a bit grey)
This is one of the most interesting videos I have seen recently:
- It has a cowboy western theme and all people speak with an accent to match. Together with the amateur acting (I think these are real employees) it is quite funny.
- The intranet is called Chalkboard and it looks like one - a black background with informal style and a typeface that reminds me of Comic Sans. It works well for headers but it does not read easily in body text, as in the A-Z. There's post-it notes and also some bits which look pretty formal.
- The chalkboard appears to be just a layer to connect very austere and formal-looking forms. Opening one of those can be a shock. :-)
- The credits mention the involvement of Human Resources - sadly we do not see that too often.
- Union Credit of Americas is a co-operative bank in Kansas, USA. You do not generally expect such informality at a bank (although I have an earlier example from a Canadian bank)
Intranet launched March 2015, video uploaded June 2015.
The new intranet of Hawaii State Federal Credit Union will make it so much easier to praise people or give them compliments. This old way certainly is clumsy! :-)
Another video that does not like being embedded - never mind, just click "Watch on Vimeo".
The video starts with two employees brainstorming about the benefits of being able to collaborate faster and better without email - it would free up time to their real work. They end up with the name Compass, which of course is an excellent name for the intranet of a travel agency.
A short demo follows. I quite like the easy videochat options.
Uploaded December 2015.
They have another interesting "user story" of the social intranet here: http://sco.lt/8mzbkH
This is intranet 4.0, according to the people at Asfinag, the responsible party for motorways and expressways in Austria.
Another example of an improved intranet with better search, a new design and more user-friendliness, created after asking feedback from employees.
The design looks nice and clean, with an app store like Office365 (but icons are different) and options to comment and give feedback. It is not a top-down communication tool.
I am a little surprised by higher management asking employees to use the intranet in 2015; I would imagine that any intranet is an essential part of doing business by now.
This lady is asking employees and students of this Education Institute (it looks like this is an online university or an organization with schools all over the country) if they know the new intranet. Many people do not, so I am looking forward to an introduction or demo video! :-) At the end there is one person demonstrating the intranet, but it is too small and short to see details.
I published the teaser for this intranet earlier. This is the introduction message of the CEO of DECD, the Department of Education and Child Development in Australia. He explains what has happened with the merge of 4 different intranets, the simplification, and the help of teachers and parents to improve the intranet.
A video message to associates from the COOs of Airline Hotels on the launch of a new company intranet.
Ellen van Aken's insight:
In one of my blogs I made these suggestions for people videos:
1. Keep it short and 2. Select someone who feels comfortable in front of a camera.
Both gentlemen claim to be very excited about this intranet but it does not show. They look extremely serious and their hands look glued together. And watching this for 4 minutes is pretty uncomfortable.
In any case, they announce the launch of the new intranet, which is a one-stop-shop for all associates of the Airline family. It will contain all the usual and useful stuff, and after launch they will ask for feedback and make that a priority. That sounds good, but I hope they have also done some user research beforehand!
The name of the intranet has been decided by a contest, and the winner is...The Family Room. That is a great name for the intranet of a hotel chain, especially for a company that has "family feeling" big on their website.
This CEO is brutally honest with his employees: he does not want to hear from employees, because it is all on the intranet. Your manager will direct you to the intranet for all questions and problems. That will make everyone's life much easier.
Fortunately it is not that bad, because you can send an email when you have a question, or raise a ticket when you think something should be on the intranet but is not there.
This attitude makes sense, because Catalyst Next is a media/web agency so they need to set the right digital example!
The video is uploaded by Alex the Great, and the CEO is called Alex too...now is there a connection?
