Internship Reflection

Internship Reflection | Interning with NHGSA | Scoop.it

The New Hampshire primaries feel like yesterday, it’s hard to believe that was when I first started interning for the NHGSA. I still remember the first day, I was a bit nervous and kind of shy, Judi came into the Radisson with her usual bubbly energetic attitude, and then it began. As we set up Judi asked me "so one of your goals is public speaking, would you like to speak today?"
After the panic attack had subsided, and I realized she was just kidding, I began to realize how amazing this internship would be. Now all of a sudden it's May and I am preparing to graduate, transitioning from student and intern to an employee. I have come a long way and I have learned so much. I have learned to use Social Media Marketing in a way that captivates an audience, entices interest, and promotes a business. My public speaking has increased dramatically as well. After speaking in front of many groups of people including training sessions and conferences, I have become comfortable and confident with my speaking abilities. My skills in organization and event management have also improved though working on special events like the Made in NH Expo and future events like the Big E.
I never thought I would learn so much about New Hampshire and the tourism industry in just five months. I can also confidently say that I am inspired by what people in this industry do and accomplish every day. Through the NHGSA I have had the pleasure to work with the Department of Travel & Tourism Development, Chambers of Commerce, the New England Visitor Center Association, and The NH Bureau of Visitor Services, and many others building professional relationships and contacts.
Overall this experience has been an invaluable learning process and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. As I transition into my future career, I will carry with me all that I have learned, and continue to learn through Judi and the New Hampshire Granite State Ambassadors.

Customer Service: The good, the bad, the ugly!

In partnership with the Plymouth Region Chamber of Commerce the Granite State Ambassadors are helping to produce a customer service training program. This program will be used to train student and non-GSAs who wish to volunteer at the new Hanaway Ice Arena Welcome Center. With the help of Jennifer Aldrich and Micheal Carney we produced this portion of the training. I hope you enjoy and learn a little bit of the do's and don'ts of customer service!

To truelly grasp how amazing and unique our Granite State Ambassador training is I participated in the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, class of 2012. I cannot belive how much information about New Hampshire and Customer Service I learned in just two days. This is just a short overview of what it was like from the students point of view.
