5 Important Things to Know for Online Banking

5 Important Things to Know for Online Banking | Internet banking in India | Scoop.it
Rhea Jindal's insight:

Online banking is like a revolution for internet savvy beginners like me! This fact hit me just a few days back when I visited the bank on a wrong day and at a wrong time! I went to my bank to deposit a check on a Saturday after the banking hours! Isn’t that great! Then one of my friends introduced to me to this wonderful thing that we call online banking! The story is old but the moral remains the same! Online banking makes life really. However, you need to be careful while handling your proceedings for online banking! These are some important things to remember that make online banking a safe, easy and trouble-free experience. Since I always follow these rules, I want to let you know about these basic and really easy to remember tips for online banking in India and abroad!

http://www.e-wisdom.com/articles/banking/five-things-to-know-about-online-banking.html

1. Understand the policies and procedures

This is the first and foremost thing to understand. Since the only way you will connect with the bank is through internet, you need to follow all the rules, regulations and guidelines provided by the bank. They might differ depending on your bank. The best place to find out about all these guidelines is by browsing through the website of the bank. You can also talk to the customer care executive just to avoid any confusion or queries. A lot of banks offer automatic banking services including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, bill payments, etc.

2. What to do in case of errors or interruptions

All the services provided by your bank are safe; you cannot escape errors or interruptions like power outage, disconnected internet or trouble in the banking server! Sometimes the bank website or your account summery shows these interrupted transactions finished. You need to know the next course of action so as to avoid the panic situations. The best thing to do would be to learn about the bank policies in such situations. Most banks redeposit the money in your account within a few working days. However, it’s always better to know what to do.

3. Bank’s privacy policies and you

According to the experts, there are a few crucial things that you need to remember that involve privacy and protection of your personal data and bank account information. If you are approaching to this mode of banking on your own then chances are that you might already know the rules of internet security. In any case, you need to understand these things just to keep your transactions under control. You need to follow all the required proceedings for account verification. These things take care of your password and misuse of your account by anyone!

4. Protection of password and account

Although the bank website does most of the security bits, you need to be careful from your side, all the time! Never share the bank details like your customer number or ID, password, bank account number to anyone! Always choose a unique password and keep it changing all the time! Always perform all the proceedings for online banking in secured browsing window! These windows start with the (https://) code. The ‘s’ indicates that your browsing is secure. Don’t proceed with your transactions if it’s missing.

5. Know how much time the bank needs

Similar to the error or interruption, you need to know how much time the bank takes to complete your online transactions. That is the average time required for the bank to complete the required transactions. Knowing this time lets you know that your money is safe until that period. This time span is called as waiting period.

Basics to know before applying for car loan

Basics to know before applying for car loan | Internet banking in India | Scoop.it
Applying for any kind of loan really gives you a hard time. Since it is a huge financial responsibility, you need to know everything about the background, eligibility, criteria and legal requirements. Also, keep in mind that all these factors keep on changing depending on the bank or the finance provider that you are applying your loan with! Last month I applied for car loan and that is when I came to know about all these things. It’s a known fact that owning a new car has become really easy with so many banks offering fast auto loans at low interest rates and EMIs. All that you need to know is to find out about eligibility criteria of that particular bank.

Income proof:
This is the most basic document that you need to provide to the bank. It ensures the bank that you have a steady source of income to qualify for the amount of money they are lending. You can easily provide it by furnishing your pay slips or salary account details. You can also provide additional assets as your collateral for your auto loan. However, the car that you are purchasing is your collateral. You can also provide the details of your credit card or mortgages. Other documents that you need include dealer’s invoice for the car, proof of registration, proof of insurance coverage and proof of emission to make sure that the vehicle is environment friendly.

Identity proof:
Almost all the banks and credit lenders require identity proof to suit their subjective point system. The things that you need to provide include your passport-sized photographs with your signature, current utility bills that have your name on them, photo IDs, bank statements, stock certificates, other vehicle or home titles, passport and other government issued cards.

Residence proof:
Similar to the identity proof, you also need to submit the residence proof. Apart from your current utility bills you can also submit any of the documents that have your current residential address with your name on it. It includes renter’s agreement, bank passbook, passport, utility bills, etc.
