Newport International - Miley Cyrus cites Marc Jacobs as fashion mentor

Newport International - Miley Cyrus cites Marc Jacobs as fashion mentor | International Newport group | Scoop.it

20-year-old twerking pop star Miley Cyrus has revealed that it was Marc Jacobs that introduced her to fashion as a young Disney starlet, and that she has inspired some of his wo...
Ega Baluga's insight:

For Miley, it's Marc's "ying and yang" approach to fashion that suits her so well. "There's definitely something amazing about being so ladylike yet being so punk," she quips. It was Jacobs's "sexy and strong" approach to fashion that was perhaps why Miley agreed to pose naked for one of Jacobs's 'Protect The Skin You're In' cancer research T-shirts. (Or because getting her kit off is now second nature to her.)

Real estate markets will boom and Tokyo Bay will be redeveloped if the Japanese capital wins the right to host the 2020 Olympics, a senior business leader told investors Wednesday.

Toyota Motor honorary chairman Fujio Cho said the already busy city would become even livelier if the sporting extravaganza came to town.

"It's certain that real estate markets will be quite active" if Tokyo's bid is successful, he told members of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan.

A business is not a charity so if you are into one or about to start you must be able to understand everything about finances first.

Meet Dorian Grinspan, the 21-Year-Old Editor of an International Fashion Magazine

Meet Dorian Grinspan, the 21-Year-Old Editor of an International Fashion Magazine | International Newport group | Scoop.it
“If you get out of school and you want to start a magazine, it’s just a terrible business idea. But if you’ve already had a magazine and it’s going pretty well, that’s easier.”
Ega Baluga's insight:

His single-mindedness is ironic, in a way, since he says he wanted to come to the U.S. for college specifically to avoid the French préparatoires system, in which students are tracked almost from the beginning into specialties like law or finance. Our own professional priming didn’t appeal to him much either. “I don’t really believe in [serial] interning,” he says, “this idea that you have to do it several times, at a magazine, or a law firm, or an investment bank, and then hope to get hired somewhere.

UK fashion stores feel the chill during a harsh winter

UK fashion stores feel the chill during a harsh winter | International Newport group | Scoop.it
The harsh winter which saw snow fall in April led to a sales slump at fashion stores.
Ega Baluga's insight:

While sales of slippers and wellies held up well in March, sandals failed to fly off the shelves. By comparison, the sunny spell experienced in March 2012 saw sandal sales soaring, sending the footwear sector to the top of the sales charts. Clothing was the only other sector to post a year-on-year fall.

David McCorquodale, head of retail at KPMG, said: “Clothing and footwear retailers had a dismal month in March as the cold weather froze sales, leaving summer skirts and sandals on the shelves.”
