The Science of Storytelling

The Science of Storytelling | Interesting Articles | Scoop.it

Many studies show us that our brains prefer storytelling to facts. When we read facts, only the language parts of our brains work to understand the meaning. When we read a story, the language parts of our brains and any other part of the brain that we would use if we were actually experiencing what we’re reading, light up.This means that it’s easier for us to remember stories than facts. Our brains can't make major distinctions between a story we’re reading about and something we are actually doing....

Ewen Hosie:  "Video games are the product of many pairs of hands rather than one, but there are still some creators whose signature is unmistakeable."

Justin Nalepa's curator insight, July 28, 2013 3:19 PM

I loved the Soul series and Miyazaki's style just pulls you right in. They're dark, deceptive and desolate. He makes you earn your achievements instead of holding your hand through the game. They remind me of the early age of gaming on Atari and NES, when completing levels or beating the game was no ordinary feat.

One omission from the list which I thought was odd was Peter Molyneux, the definitive creator of "God games".

Most People Are Still Confused About Cloud Storage, And No One Service Is Winning The Race To Educate And Acquire Users

Most People Are Still Confused About Cloud Storage, And No One Service Is Winning The Race To Educate And Acquire Users | Interesting Articles | Scoop.it

Consumers aren't using cloud storage services in very large numbers, even as nearly every Internet user is on the cloud in some way.

Almost 90% of U.S. broadband users polled have at least heard of "cloud storage," according to a study from nScreenMedia.

BII

But only 29% said they currently use it, and about half of the respondents had either never heard of cloud storage services, didn't use them, or reported not knowing anything about them.

This is a huge opportunity for cloud service companies to build out their audiences.

In particular, usage of cloud storage services, such as iCloud, Dropbox, and Microsoft OneDrive, will soar over the next few years as more consumers come to understand the value of storing their data, files, and media online.

Android Tips & Hacks's curator insight, August 1, 2014 8:44 AM

There are too many cloud services and not enough differentiation between them. Where they do work well, such as Apple's iCloud, they are transparent enough that the user doesn't even really know that it is doing anything at all. That's the dream, of course, but it doesn't help you sell your product.

20+ Places To Find Interesting Content To Share On Social Media

20+ Places To Find Interesting Content To Share On Social Media | Interesting Articles | Scoop.it

As a blogger, you may not always get to produce content as much as you want, so to keep your social accounts fresh and updated, you may need to curate other people’s stuff.

Plus you can’t just always promote your own posts 24/7 especially if you’re a newbie or you’ll become repetitive and eventually bore your followers.

But remember, you have to be picky with what you curate. Share content that your audience cares about. Don’t just randomly post anything or you’ll just frustrate your users. And this is why I’m writing this post, to help you find great stuff....
