Consumer health informatics: the need to integrate with clinical practice. Paper presented at: Primary Health Care Group of BCS; September 10, 1999

Back in 1999, with the crude technologies of the time, we were discussing the need for integration with clinical practice. For ehealth to work it has to be built into the patient flow, has to be part of the way HCPs work. That may of course mean that HCPs needs to review the way they work and to learn how best to use the technology. Constant evolution of fitting the technology to the way people work, but also changing the way you work to make best use of the technology.

Patient on-line access to medical records in general practice. | ResearchGate

Ancient publication (1992) on experiment on patient access to their medical record in general practice via a touch screen kiosk. This was NOT access directly to the GP record but access to the etail extracted from the record and stored on the kiosk. But it showed that - even at that state of fairly crude technology - patients in a deprived part of Glasgow were keento get access and use it.
