Very good article.Consistency within activating the role of IMC in marketing the brand is very important. Consistency can only be done when all elements of IMC is effectively communicating a company's brand to the customers. Building strong brand equity relies on the consistency of delivering the appropriate image of what its stands for to increase product and services recognition and allow consumers to quickly absorbs information about a particular brand and its value.
Daniel Gate's curator insight, May 14, 2014 5:21 AM

Integrated marketing communications is becoming an increasingly important aspect when it comes to branding, as it helps with a brands identity. Typically those brands that are well established and have an already strong customer base present have an advantage within the market. With brand identity including a variety of different elements there needs to be a consistent and  common message shown between them, otherwise it may result in confusion for consumers. If consumers receiving all these different message, that are potentially contradicting one another there will be confusion and it will be unknown what the brand is trying to achieve or what its stance is. It is important to keep each of these elements surrounding brand identity integrated and portraying a common message.

Samantha Brown's curator insight, August 11, 2014 8:56 PM

Due to the many different modern opportunities and methods to provide information to consumers and the target audience, there is a need to know and understand how and when to use the many communication tools to the best advantage for the organisation. To express the message effectively and efficiently, marketers need to find the right combination of tools and techniques, and the way/extent to which they be used to succeed. A solid understanding of IMC tools is necessary to do this.

4 Ways to Measure Your Social Media Success - Forbes | IMC (Branding and social media) | Scoop.it

Companies big and small have been hesitant to incorporate social media as part of their IMC strategy. This has resulted in the rise of social media analytics, to allow companies to take advantage of all of the data that is collected on various social media platforms. There are many companies including IBM, Adobe, and Salesforce.com that offer comprehensive solutions to allow companies to improve their social media presence and gather insights from customers in order to improve their performance. However, for most smaller and mid-size companies, these solutions are too expensive. This article gives 5 more affordable solutions to allow companies to more effectively measure their success resulting from the use of different social media. I agree with Cen's insight, i believe that social media is an imoportant tool for marketing nowadays because it is being widely used among consumers. It is a platform for consumers to understand more about a product of a brand either from the company or experiences from other consumers, therefore I believed that brand should use social media effectively because it allows it to communicate with consumers.
Sophie Pagani AUT's curator insight, September 26, 2014 9:34 PM

This is interesting as nowadays social media seems to be a crucial IMC channel however from a business perspective all marketing must be measured some how. Social media can be measured in 'likes' or 'followers' however this may not directly result in sales. What it will do however is build up a more personable side of the brand

Popular consumer electronics company LG rebranded twice, from the original legacy name of Lak-Hui Chemical Industrial Corporation to Lucky_Goldstar, and in 1995 to their current moniker of LG with the tag line “Life’s Good.”From an aggressive price warrior and technology provider, the brand will henceforth be communicated as one that causes happiness, an enabler of life enrichment. The focus will be on the softer aspects of things. This is the first experiment of its kind that LG has done anywhere in the world. If it clicks, the idea will be taken to other markets.

Integrated Marketing Communications | Social Media Today | IMC (Branding and social media) | Scoop.it

Think about it this way: It used to be you’d have a crisis communication plan written and it would stay in a drawer until your PR team pulled it out the following year, dusted it off, and gave it a good rewrite.

I’m sure you see or hear this a lot: Traditional PR is dead! Media relations is dead! Websites are dead! Marketing is dead! Advertising is dead! Newspapers are dead!

Granted, sometimes those things are written to motivate people to click on a link, but all of the customary ways of communication are far from dead. Instead, we find it’s necessary to integrate the things that are “dead” with digital public relations....
