Elite Achievers: deliberate, methodical and focused wins every time. Some keys for #socent #socinnov and #impinv | Innovation Tools & Resources | Scoop.it

I've trained people well and have trained well myself.  The most powerful and effective way to progress is daily method; yet the average person has difficulty with adherence to such "hard work".  Most prefer exhaustive "busy work" all the time--and with no time left in their day to enjoy themselves.  This article examines the distinctions and payoffs between the choice of self-inflicted virtuous and viscious cycles.

Choose wisely.

Looking for competition in all the wrong places | Piramal Fellowship Blog

Looking for competition in all the wrong places | Piramal Fellowship Blog | Innovation Tools & Resources | Scoop.it

"But perhaps we are looking in all the wrong places. In a country like India, where over half of the economy is informal, competition may take on a very different form. The existing market is often dominated by a vibrant and informal system. This is a system that can be far more difficult to understand and compete against than the typical “competition” we read about in business school courses. And unfortunately, it is a market we often overlook, as if we are entering into a vacuum."

The Strength of Absent Ties; The Weakness of Strong Ties

The Strength of Absent Ties; The Weakness of Strong Ties | Innovation Tools & Resources | Scoop.it

There has been much doodoo talked about in social innovation and entrepreneurship circles about getting impacts to scale, which usually results in boneheaded linear thinking of more more more and bigger bigger bigger initiatives and spending. It takes weeks to clean your shoes off after trudging through these rationales...

Distributed models with workable frameworks are often overlooked and unexplored to get impacts to scale: where people with applicable skills can opt in and out when needed.  Non-professional humans are much more powerful resources than professionals--yet we dismiss them to roles of consumers or supplicants in society.  Unfotunately, it's often the non-professional that offers up the best innovative answers--and not only for our future, but with a proven civilization long legacy of solving the most intractable community and social problems with a flourish.

Like most emerging technologies, Virtual Networks and Social Media offer powerful and fresh metaphors to reveal these basic, human truths once again.

I liked this article for that reason.  Hope you do too.

Why Peter Drucker Distrusted Facts - Stephen Wunker - Harvard Business Review

Why Peter Drucker Distrusted Facts - Stephen Wunker - Harvard Business Review | Innovation Tools & Resources | Scoop.it

""Most books on decision-making tell the reader: First find the facts. But executives who make effective decisions know that one does not start with facts. One starts with opinions...The understanding that underlies the right decision grows out of the clash and conflict of divergent opinions and out of serious consideration of competing alternatives. To get the facts first is impossible. There are no facts unless one has a criterion of relevance."

Drucker provides several theses supporting this broad assertion:"
