Text 2 Mind Map offers a great way to turn your typed outlines into mind maps. To create a mind map on Text 2 Mind Map type out an outline in the text box. After typing your outline click "draw mind map" to have your mind map created for you. If after creating your mind map you need to add more elements to just add them into your outline and click "draw mind map" again. Your mind map can be downloaded as a PDF or PNG file. The mind maps that you create on Text 2 Mind Map can also be shared via email, Facebook, or Twitter.

Games Based Situated Learning – A Contradiction?

Marrying up to Situated Learning Theory

 

The first part of the series will introduce briefly some of the theories that underpin our products and games based learning at large. The main focus of this series is Games Based Situated Learning, which we have discussed before, but several years ago and very briefly. I will also try to uncover whether Situated Learning can actually occur through games and simulations, i.e. is that situated enough?

I will then introduce one of our games-ED products: the learning simulation Sustainaville. I will explain the simulation and how it is used in a workshop including the plan > do > review stages.

The final and main part of the series will essentially be a judgement of Sustainaville using some theoretical principles outlined in the first part of the series (put forward by Jan Herrington and Ron Oliver, 1995). This checklist can be used to judge other serious games and learning simulations in a similar way. We will back up our judgements with both qualitative and quantitative feedback from our workshops.

En la actualidad, la visión que se tiene en la Comunidad Escolar de la palabra innovaciónestá bastante centrada en la revolución tecnológica a la que estamos sometidos y que está transformando radicalmente las formas de impartir docencia en el Aula.Pero la innovación en el sector educativo no puede venir únicamente de la mano de la tecnología.

Necesitamos una adaptación pedagógica a la nueva coyuntura de cambios globales y en especial a los cambios tecnológicos. Tenemos que saber adaptar la educación a los nativos digitales.

Es un hecho que la unión entre educación e innovación resulta complicada para muchos docentes y profesionales del sector que, por miedo a lo desconocido o a lo novedoso, no se sienten capaces o con fuerzas suficientes para adaptarse al cambio tan radical que están experimentando.

As a politics professor, I feel I should know something about health policy, but it is mostly dread that made me sign up for Ezekiel Emanuel’s class, Health Policy and the Affordable Care Act, through Coursera. Word is that higher education is about to be disruptedby online providers, like Coursera and Udacity, and their MOOCs (massive open online courses). If students can take political philosophy with Harvard’s Michael Sandel for free, why will they pay to take it with me?
