Yifeng Wang's curator insight, January 26, 2015 5:41 PM

To begin with this topic, i would like to say that the reason why i choose this topic is because the beginning point of the Silk Road is at my hometown, Xi'an City, which is a beautiful city with the Terra-Cotta Warriors and the longest City wall in China. I am very glad to share with you the knowledge about this topic, hope you will enjoy it.

This interesting Video provide us with an outline of the Silk Road about what is the Silk Road and what is the influence of the Silk Road.

The Silk Road is not a road made by silk, it is in fact a network of trade routes which connect the eastern Mediterranean with China. The Silk Road has greatly promoted the fusion and exchanging of culture, products, resources and science between China, Aentral Asia and Medterranean. It had  a far-reaching influence on the history of the world.

The silk road was the most significant communication channel between eastern world and the western world. It conected the isolated world together. I really would like to follow your topic, because my hometown was a important city on the silk road.

Silkroad Foundation
Libby Snyder's insight:

A -- Author is the Silk Road Foundation (many contributors).

B -- Big Idea (purpose) of the website is to provide information about the Silk Road.

C -- Content is focused on the Silk Road and but sources aren't always cited.  Many articles are hard to read because they use words I don't understand.

D -- Design of website is not fancy, but is plainly presented.  The information is organized well.

I think this website is a GOOD website.  It's not great because the information isn't always cited, although some is.  It is good because it is focused on the Silk Road and organized well.
