Very good article to read. Gives great details on both programs. Also covers the pros and cons of both programs from which one is better for industry use and better audio editing.

If you are interested in pursuing an career in audio engingeering and looking into a software to help you develop your skills this article will compare and contrast Logic Pro and Pro tools which are two major audio editing programs in the game. This source is reliable because it provides little pro and cons for each program. This article is for more informational use on the two programs more than entertainment and sales use.

This article was very good at explaining what to expect in my opinion. I liked how it also gives a break down on cost and what is needed for it to work properly for you. The author gives a proper explanation for both Logic Pro and Pro Tools requirements. He explains the pros and cons and gives a very good conclusion to Pro Tools working better in areas of studio recording as where Logic is used more for sequencing.

This is a great site because you don't have to worry about opinions. Most of it just presents the features in Pro Tools. You can learn a lot on what Pro Tools has to offer.

Logic 9 vs Pro Tools 10 - Social Sound Design

Brittany Johnson's insight:

I'm getting insights on which software is better Logic 9 or Pro Tools 10. I'm finding that both are great in their own sense.

Pro: Pro Tools 10 is great essentially for editting. Logic 9 is more essential for composing.

Con: If you have Logic 9 and need to do some serious editting you're kind of stuck because Pro Tools 10 is more the tool for that.

I like this site because it states a lot of different opinions. I am finding out pretty much the same information at this point. People keep stating that for composing they prefer Logic, but Pro Tools for audio editing.

Logic Vs. Pro Tools | Industry News | Scoop.it
Last month at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show several people came up to macProVideo.com's booth to ask me which Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) I think is best: Logic Pro...

Brittany Johnson's insight:

Both do what they are made to do which is make music. If your just playing with it but not very serious about making music it doesn't really matter which one you use.

This is something I am highly interested in and I found it really cool that Logic 9 has '"The Environment" that is unique in the audio world.'

Although in the same time they say "Logic can't hold a candle to Pro Tools when it comes to features like video editing (and it doesn't even try).", so both have their pros and cons on why you should be using what software.

Dj Philosophy's curator insight, October 6, 2015 11:54 PM

This gives some great insight on both DAWs. One major underline difference for these programs is pro tools is much better when it comes to post productions  for things like movie or video design.

Jonathan Reigel's curator insight, December 5, 2015 7:00 PM

Whats a better DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) ? Many talk about Logic and Pro Tools. These are two of the best software's out there up to date. However there is a few differences between the two, but all in all they are the same workstation. Your biggest thing between the two is the 64-bit optimizer in Logic 7 as compared to a 32-bit in Pro Tools. Than another big difference is that Pro Tools is highly recommended for video editing as Logic losses in that category.

Brittany Johnson's insight:

Having both Pro Tools and Logic could take some time to get used to but essentialy will be great if your doing serious work like "work to picture" aka film.

I like this link, but it could be a little bias because he said he hasn't even used Logic Pro 8 yet. I do think this article could be a little outdated, but it still is the foundation of the newer products. I feel that the things that were discussed are still relevant to today's versions. I personally am a Logic user because I create a lot more than record. I have never really seen anyone create an instrumental in Pro Tools. I usually see people only editing or recording in Pro Tools.

Cons:

Some people don't like a single window interface

Pro Tools used to only come with one MIDI instrument

Pro Tools has track limitation on the cheaper versions

Pros:

Logic comes with a ton of MIDI instruments and preset sounds

Pro Tools is better for editing audio

Logic is geared towards composing music

Dj Philosophy's curator insight, October 6, 2015 11:43 PM

All though this article is basing both logic and pro tools  off old versions of the DAW's, they still give some great points on how much each program has to offer.

Casey Superba's curator insight, March 10, 2016 7:41 PM

There are several disagreements in this article, some people say pro tools is better while other people go as far as saying its archaic. in which they seem to feel Logic Pro has become better. I' d have to say by my view thier each made for special purposes.
