While having "industry standard " technology available is a fantastic opportunity for student, I think that it can limit creativity. The best inventions have been born out of need. I only hope that as people use avid someone else is developing somethign better. Without innovation creativity will stagnate. Not everyone has the same workflow or "idea flow". This is seen over and over again in every type of art. Some engineers mix bass heavye, some accentuate highs. There are hundreds of different wasy to acheieve the same result and while introducing a "standard" is a good thing, teaching that it is the only way to do something can be severly detrimental to the creative process.

New innovations do not have to do anything different, sometimes they do something better. In this case the ease of having different engineers familiarize themselves quickly on an unfimiliar board is key. Simplicity is king, in my opnion.

As the depth of live shows increase, so the does the complexity of the equipment needed to handle the increased turnover of products. If the industry does start to adopt live sales, the amount of Recording jobs will probably double.

Spotify took a new approach to music before anyone else did. Now they have pushed their offerings even further. Free mobile radio will help them dominate the new "radio" market. Previously it was a paid service, now it is going to be free and ad supported.
