According to Yerkes - Dodson Law, it dictates that performance increases with physiological or mental arousal, but only up to a point. When levels of arousal become too high, performance decreases. The process is often illustrated graphically as a curvilinear, inverted U-shaped curve which increases and then decreases with higher levels of arousal. And so, based on this theory, the trick here is to find something that you love doing. Another trick is to always challenge yourself.

This is exactly what we've learnt previously in Business Communication Class. In that class, we've learnt that strong bonds within the organisation would allow for faster dissemination of information and would also lead to lesser communication breakdown which helps to create an effective communication. This article also mentioned the rationale behind relationship and productivity. According to Gallup (2014), employees with a close friend in the workplace has 50% more work satisfaction and 7 times fully engaged in their work. Hence, the author encourages employees to spend happy hour with one another, to build bonds within the company thus creating a more trusting work environment which creates a more cohesive workforce.  Furthermore, these relationships would help to boost morale as well as develop office culture.

Similar to other articles, this article recommends to have consistent breaks in-between work , have a good social network, reduce your distractions by having only 1 computer or having a different browser for work. One disagreement with this article is on the point of listening to music while doing work. I believe that it will serve as a distraction rather than helping productivity. This point is also contradictory to other article' recommendations.

This article is similar to the Pomodoro Technique that we have learnt in class - Instead of trying to maintain energy for the whole day, breaking it down into sessions with plain relaxation is most effective/ productive. It also helps us to understand that having willpower alone is not enough to accomplish our workload. Some studies suggest that willpower is an "exhaustible source". One of the helpful tips that they recommend is disciplined scheduling. 

The author also advised not to multitask. We have also learnt that in class as multitasking increases chances of error, takes longer and decreases productivity levels.

Employees at Treehouse company its revenues has grown 120% and generated $10 million a year in sales, despite its employees only working for 4 days a week. It substantiate the data tweeted by Khalidkarim- that productivity increases when there's lesser working hours. Various social science studies have also supported this claim as they found that people who put in long hours at work have negative ramifications in the long run. 

I think it would be more interesting if they could run an experiment to further verify these claims if they get people to work 6 days a week and measure the difference in productivity and revenue.

More often, we associate people who take naps in between classes as one who does not know how to manage his/her time wisely which cause the individual to be sleep deprived.Or we would label them as being lazy. However according to this research conducted by Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience, it found that shorts naps can boost one's ability to solve problems as well as improving memory. It has also found that your performance and alertness is dependent on the time and duration of your nap.

This article is really interesting and informative. The author recommended many useful applications to help one increase productivity in their daily routine. For example, there's program like "Self-control" or "Self-Restraint" that allows you to block yourself from accessing website for a certain period of time. He also recommends to disable notifications from emails or social media sites so that one can concentrate on doing their work. These article also states that one should not multi-task! I feel that even with this knowledge, it boils down to your own self-control and whether you choose to follow these steps.
