The inaugural Doing Good Index examines the enabling environment for philanthropy and private social investment across 15 Asian economies. Composed of four areas–tax and fiscal policy, regulatory regimes, socio-cultural ecosystem, and government procurement–the Index reveals how Asian economies are catalyzing philanthropic giving. If the right regulatory and tax policies were in place, Asian philanthropists could give over US$500 billion, contributing to the US$1.4 trillion annual price tag needed to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. Scaling up inclusive business Uganda - UNDP Challenge Call

UNDP and Government of Uganda have developed an initiative aimed at strengthening the tourism inclusive business ecosystem in Uganda. The initiative – Uganda Tourism Ecosystem Platform (UTEP) – was established in April 2017, and is intended to catalyse inclusive growth and development of the tourism sector in Uganda.


UNDP Uganda now wishes to initiate an Innovation Challenge Call for “Scaling-up inclusive business models in support of Uganda as a preferred sustainable and inclusive tourism destination with a tourism sector that creates opportunities for all“. This Innovation Challenge Call seeks to support the scale-up of inclusive business solutions, by addressing key business level barriers through targeted funding and/or targeted technical assistance. Applicants should present an innovative idea/solution that helps them to scale-up operations and impact.

The government plans to raise 300 billion won (US$275.9 million) over the next five years for social impact investments, officials said Thursday. Unlike charities or donations, the so-called impact investment is aimed at offering funds to small companies or cooperatives for social causes with financial returns. These investment schemes are still at an infant stage in South Korea, and the government will set up a Social Benefit Fund to promote them, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) said in a statement.

Promoting inclusive business requires a paradigm shift in the entire ecosystem of actors towards a social solidarity economy.These are the conclusions of the workshops on inclusive business that took place last week in Madrid and Barcelona, under the coordination of CAD and the CODESPA Foundation. Both workshops gathered together experts from the business world, social entrepreneurs and professionals from the inclusive business area to validate the results of the research, promoted by the Business Observatory against Poverty (OECP) through the CODESPA Foundation and led by CAD, to propose initiatives aimed at creating a favorable ecosystem for inclusive businesses in Spain.

UBS today released a new white paper for the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2018 in Davos. The paper focuses on partnerships for the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), which UBS sees as a crucial part of Creating a Shared Future in a Fractured World, the theme of this year's Meeting.


UBS today announces the following SDG-related partnerships: The first 100% sustainable cross-asset portfolios for private clients, targeting market rates of risk-adjusted return as well as positive social and environmental outcomes.


A partnership with Solactive and leading green bond managers on new indices featuring World Bank, multilateral development bank (MDB), and green bonds.


The launch of Align171 (to take place on Jan 24 during the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos). This independent platform, a concept announced in UBS’s white paper for the 2017 Annual Meeting and developed over the past year, stands out in connecting a wider range of public, institutional, and private wealth investors with SDG-related investment opportunities.


The Collaborative hosted by UBS, an initiative involving UBS's Global Ultra High Net Worth Philanthropy Center, the UBS Optimus Foundation, and UBS clients. The Collaborative, among other things, endeavors to connect philanthropists to scalable and sustainable solutions to bring healthcare access to more than 34 million people in Africa.
