Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Google+ Page | Brightfire Blog

Step-by-Step Guide to Creating a Google+ Page | Brightfire Blog | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

After making companies wait for what felt like an eternity, Google finally opened the floodgates of Google+ for businesses on Monday.

Since launching Google+ in June, the search engine giant had prevented businesses from setting up a corporate page – the exception being Ford who were used as a prototype.

In a previous blog post we told you all about the general (and our own) almost impatient fascination with Google+ and its rapid rise to the status of leading player in the social networking arena.

It was probably a good idea for Google to hold back on the branded profiles. After all, if you want individuals to interact with brands, you need the individuals there first! The user growth rate must have slowed down enough for Google to decide that now was the time to let the big boys come and play.

Our social media boffin, Scott Leslie, will show you how to create a Google+ account for your brand in an easy, step-by-step guide.

How to Get More Leads for Less with an Integrated Marketing Approach | Brightfire Blog

How to Get More Leads for Less with an Integrated Marketing Approach | Brightfire Blog | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

Gone are the days when comprehensive marketing campaigns were the preserve of the super rich corporations. To plan and deploy traditional advertising and all-embracing marketing campaigns, one had to spend tens if not hundreds of thousands of pounds on TV commercials, radio and print adverts, direct mail, trade shows, not to mention the labour needed to handle all these activities that would ‘convince’ consumers to buy your product.

As audiences get increasingly adept at blocking out these ‘interruptive’ – and quite possibly annoying – commercial messages, outbound marketing as we know it is fast losing ground.

So is there a better way to spend your marketing £££? Find out on the Brightfire blog...

Businesses, Gear Up for Google+! | Brightfire Blog

Businesses, Gear Up for Google+! | Brightfire Blog | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

When Google+ launched at the end of June, Google asked brands and companies not to create profiles and pages on the much-hyped social media network. Not only were you unable to sign up using a work email account that was powered by Google, but those who rushed to open a business account were shown the red card and sent off the new social media playing field.

Christian Oestlien, product manager at Google, was quick to comfort the budding Google+ business adopters, promising that Google would enable business profiles later in the year.

But why would companies want to add Google+ to their digital marketing strategies? Find out on the Brightfire blog...

5 Tips for Converting Inbound Leads to Customers | Brightfire Blog

5 Tips for Converting Inbound Leads to Customers | Brightfire Blog | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

You are amassing a loyal audience of Twitter followers, Facebook fans and an ever increasing stream of website and blog visits, but are simply not converting online leads into new customers.

What more can be done when you blog, engage in social media and regularly create new content for your audience?

Pushing inbound leads further down the sales funnel is a common challenge for many businesses today as they endeavour to work out how to improve the return on investment (ROI) from online channels.

Ask yourself the following:

  • Am I following up initial leads with lead nurturing campaigns that offer up additional valuable content addressing real issues they are facing in their business?
  • Do I offer bespoke content to leads in my sales funnel according to their position in the buying cycle?
  • Have I integrated my marketing and sales process to ensure that sales are picking up on qualified leads at the right time and maximising conversion?

If you’ve answered at least one of these questions with a “no”, then you’ve identified a potential weak link. Read on to find out how you can make conversion really work for your business.

How to Reach a Global Audience from Your Armchair | Brightfire Blog

How to Reach a Global Audience from Your Armchair | Brightfire Blog | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

Want to spread your word to far-flung corners of the Earth while keeping your carbon footprint in check? With global communication and spending increasingly moving online, this is not only possible, but more easily attainable – and did we mention cheaper? – than ever.

Did you know that 78% of global consumers search online before buying a product and that 66% of them are likely to purchase via the web? These people don’t wait to be bombarded with direct mail, TV and print ads or sales calls to buy – instead, they actively hunt for your products and services.

Isn’t it just a dream come true for the seasoned marketer who’s had to battle against the gale wind forces of consumer rejection, disregard and at times – sheer hostility? Not to mention the prohibitive amounts one had to shell out on ads, telemarketing, and trade shows, whose return on investment is seen to be hitting rock bottom.

Why ‘social business’ is forcing companies to re-evaluate the relationship between marketing and sales | The Drum

Why ‘social business’ is forcing companies to re-evaluate the relationship between marketing and sales | The Drum | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

Anyone who has ever worked in a business to business environment will most likely have witnessed marketing and sales teams working in silos and not wholly integrated around a common set of goals. It has become almost anecdotal: the Marketing department believes Sales are not delivering enough new business, and Sales teams blame low customer conversion on the lack of quality support from Marketing. Sound familiar?

How to Make Marketing That People Love [Gapingvoid Cartoons]

How to Make Marketing That People Love [Gapingvoid Cartoons] | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

Okay, raise your hand if you're a fan of gapingvoid. Hands down.

Now raise your hand if you have absolutely no idea what gapingvoid is. Okay, cool.

Here's an explanation: Gapingvoid is a website created by Hugh MacLeod, who creates cartoons around 'social objects,' which Hugh believes are the "hard currency of the internet."

In his words, "social objects are the reason two people talk to each other, as opposed to talking to somebody else...That reason, that “node” in the social network, is the social object." So basically, gapingvoid makes these awesome social objects in the form of cartoons.

What's even cooler about gapingvoid is its stance on marketing. According to its website, gapingvoid believes that "Traditional advertising doesn’t work very well. Sure, it tries, and tries hard, but most of the time, it fails." Our thoughts exactly!

Now that we're all caught up, let's take a look at gapingvoid's take on inbound marketing via the following 6 social objects.

How to Use Social Media Advertising to Generate Leads: Google vs. LinkedIn | Brightfire Blog | Inbound Marketing UK | Scoop.it

In an ideal world you would be able to build brand awareness, increase authority and generate more leads through the power of organic search and social media engagement. Unfortunately, in the crowded milieu of the web, and with millions of Google Number One contenders, these organic activities sometimes don’t suffice. Here’s where social media advertising comes in.

Yes, you’ll need to pay a little extra but think about the benefits: your website gaining better visibility and your message getting straight to your target customer. If you could afford it, we definitely recommend spicing up your marketing activities with a dollop of social media ads… in addition to your daily nuggets of search engine optimisation, social media interaction and blogging, of course.

Here's a close-up of traditional Google pay-per-click campaigns and LinkedIn ads.

Despite the rapid growth in popularity of mobile internet use, two-thirds of companies have yet to optimise their websites for mobile.
