The MDM Silo Problem Vendors Are Ignoring

The MDM Silo Problem Vendors Are Ignoring | In Data Veritas: Asset Servicing and Management | Scoop.it

Aaron Zornes (@azornes), chief research officer for the MDM Institute, says large companies now have multiple MDM deployments, and need a way to manage these siloed solutions. The vendors tend to deal with this with solutions that only address their products. A more practical solution for most companies would be a registry-style MDM hub, Zornes told IT Business Edge’s Loraine Lawson, but so far, that’s an option vendors have ignored.

Olivier Mathurin's insight:

Registry style MDM hubs: the come back. And ths time, to provide unified view accross siloed MDM hubs. Great summary of current situation with best-of-breed approach to MDM and vendors positionning by Aaron Zornes

Will Automation Replace Offshore BPO?

“Offshoring has become a ‘race to the bottom’ for cheaper and cheaper labor, which we don’t consider to be a very sustainable model,” Geary said. “We think it’s better to bring work back onshore and use a combination of smart people and dumb robots to get the work done and create more interesting jobs. If you put a bunch of smart, expensive people together with a bunch of robots, you can still achieve your cost goals and maintain control over your processes.”

Be Careful or Big Data Could Bury Your Bank

Be Careful or Big Data Could Bury Your Bank | In Data Veritas: Asset Servicing and Management | Scoop.it
There s no shortage of data for banks to harness or advice about how to use the consumer and economic information that s now available.
Olivier Mathurin's insight:

Some estimates suggest that 90 percent of all existing data has been produced over the past two years. However, new data projects pose added challenges in security, organization and compliance as new data is compliant, and bad actors will be attempted to access legacy data in a way that is unauthorized. Banks will need to determine which data needs to be stored and what data is no longer necessary.

Big Data in Trading and Risk Management - SAP & A-Team | In Data Veritas: Asset Servicing and Management | Scoop.it

This industry briefing - sponsored by SAP - provides insight and analysis on how financial markets firms see Big Data approaches and technologies being leveraged for trading and risk applications.

The briefing draws upon research conducted by A-Team Group’s BigDataForFinance.com web community, which included a survey of major financial markets firms based in the U.S. The survey was conducted during the spring and summer of 2012.

Because Big Data is a new discipline, the analysis sought to highlight opinions from respondents, rather than hard information about their own firm’s usage and experience.

Respondents demonstrated a good understanding of how Big Data approaches might be leveraged across a number of key trading and risk applications, with substantial commonality of thought in some cases.
