This article focuses on Spotify, as a business model for subscription streaming services.  The article, like others I have scooped, does share optimism for streaming being a vital part in the Music Industry's come back; but shows equal skepticism, given current trends.  This article addresses that the labels are responsible for artists receiving less revenue, while increasing personal gain for the labels themselves.  There is need for change and this article suggests that it is the labels, not the streaming platforms, that need to alter allocation of funds.

In his youtube video, Gerd suggests a new model for acquiring revenue through streaming.  He stresses streaming is here and going to stay, he believes focus should shift to brand, licensing access, lowering subscription cost, promoting premium services and focus on raising attention. Gerd proposes, if this shift does not take place, the streaming industry will colapse.

This article emphasizes some positive and negative effects of digitally streaming music, specifically through subscription based sites.  Positive:   Access for fans and Exposure for up and comings/ Indie Bands; also a  good way to track listening trends.   Negative:   Insufficient distribution of royalties to artists and labels;  may not hit full revenue potential before more and more artists pull out.
