It's important to realize that many people reading this will be behind the trend and chasing it without seeing results. Think about previous years when you heard how important it was to build your email list. If you jumped on that trend then you realized that by the time you built a big enough list to mean anything, that has become less effective.

Next you were told how Social Media was going to make a break your business. Many people chasing that trend did not reap the rewards they anticipated. Why? Is it because social media marketing isn't effective? Is it that the gurus were wrong when they told you that without SEO nobody would find your website? No. It's about timing. Just like this article when it's focusing on everyone's excitement of content marketing. What happens when EVERYONE focuses on content marketing? Just like everything else.. it becomes clutter and noise. Does this mean not to create valuable content for readers to consume? Absolutely not. My message to you is to get ahead of the trends, not follow them.

The next trend is video. Create as many videos and as much content as you can. These assets will dominate in the next 3 years when everyone is sick of reading all this content.

The Content Marketing Ecosystem Is at a Crossroads

The Content Marketing Ecosystem Is at a Crossroads | СписаниеТО Интернет Маркетинг | Scoop.it

Brands like Intel, Ben & Jerry’s, Netflix, GE, AARP, Ford, NYT, American Express and many, many others have figured out that search and social aren’t the only way to get content seen. These brands are not beholdened to the marketing stack for visibility, and you don’t have to be either.

The time to experiment with the above channels of content promotion is now. Everyday spent not incorporating the above earned and paid channels is another day of solely relying on the marketing technology stack to drive content visibility. Now’s the time to figure out what works and what doesn’t so you can drive the traffic, audience, conversions and, ultimately, the return needed to justify content marketing for the long haul....

Why Context is King – The Connection and Impressions of Context and Content

Why Context is King – The Connection and Impressions of Context and Content | СписаниеТО Интернет Маркетинг | Scoop.it

Brands keep pumping out content, hoping that the sheer volume will help to make up for lower quality standards. We all know that it’s not a long-term strategy but, because it’s working right now, many brands are happy to keep feeding the content monster.

Many businesses fail to realize that having copious amounts of content isn’t going to rank them high on search engines, it’s the high-quality and context of your content that will. Some businesses are learning that its context, not content, that’s king....

Social Media Has Killed Consumer Trust

Social Media Has Killed Consumer Trust | СписаниеТО Интернет Маркетинг | Scoop.it

The phrase “people trust people, not brand advertising” should be updated to state: “People trust real people and real friends,  not social media and/or brand advertising.” Nowhere is this more evident than among the Millennial generation, who for all their good intentions and social-do-goodness, are less trusting of what they read and see in social media.

An October 2014 Student Monitor survey queried college students about the the media through which they learn about products and services. The number one channel by which students preferred to receive product/service information was good old-fashioned word of mouth (48%). Interesting, “ads on the Internet” was second at 39%, well ahead of “information on the Internet” (21%) and “product reviews online” (18%)....

Social Media Has Killed Consumer Trust. The public has figured out that cyber-shilling, gamified endorsements, and native advertising are real. Or has it?
