Twitter + Print: Combining the New and the Old to Grow Your Business

Twitter + Print: Combining the New and the Old to Grow Your Business | IMC.milestone1 | Scoop.it
Combine Twitter with print ads for an interactive effect SUMMARY: Combining social media such as Twitter with a traditional medium such as print makes for an effective combination, Patrick Himes writes. Print advertising is underrated despite its "tangibility, credibility, branding, target marketing, and engagement level," he writes, and combining it with Twitter creates cross-promotional activities that can be bolstered with special offers and discounts. Also, using QR codes on print ads to connect to Twitter allows for two-way interaction, Himes adds.
Winina Tan's insight:
I somewhat agree with this article. Print advertising has suffered ever since the boom of the social media. Companies are now more attracted to invest their advertising budget in E-marketing. Though it may have it's advantages like it states in the article, but I believe that all types of advertising is a hit or a miss. Though the choice of doing print advertising has not been forgotten, I myself personally have witness that people do prefer the social media as we believe we are in the modern technology era in our lives. As the goal of IMC is to make all aspect of marketing communication work together in a cohesive manner, which in the end leads to take advantage of cost effectiveness. But as print advertising era fades away little by little by the takeover of the social media. Do you believe that the social media frenzy that we are currently experience will Last? Or will there soon be a new trend of how businesses market their product to the consumer ?

Maybe a method to measure effectivness of markeing efforts would be essential? COuld you suggest some? I dont think IMC mainly saves money by having a cohesive message do you? I believe it has more to do with having a clearer message and gaining synergy on the impact of the message. I believe social media is still in its growing or maturing ages and we have a lot more to experience hence firms should focus more on social media and use it as a tool for consumer engagement.

I sorted of understand where it coming from, but i recently received a print advertising which content QR code and facebook page those social media info. sure, there are some effects on print advertising industry. so there is some combination in between. hopefully print advertising era won't fades away. and for the question part - i dont think the social media will last forever, sooner or later there will be a new platform, maybe? and this is why IMC will play their important role in the market : )

BMW's New Acoustic Logo Makes the Brand Even More Aggressive ... | IMC.milestone1 | Scoop.it
Offering a product or service that meets consumers' needs is the price of entry for any brand; however, to generate enthusiasm and motivate consumers to purchase brand marketers need to recognize and tap into the power of ...
Winina Tan's insight:
I believe that the BMW company is taking a innovative step in a new type of branding. IMC is known to be way of communication where different elements and components work together to produce a flawless experience for the consumer who are presented with a clear understanding which underlines the company's core message. Thomas Kisser the sound designer for the BMW sound logo has strived to compose a piece that not only projects what the company stands for, but also on how the consumer perceives the company as a luxurious brand. It all sound good and well in theory and reading about it, but will this new style of marketing and branding achieve a real success when it is launched to the public? More so, will the public understand what it is the company is trying to achieve ?

Tottally agree that correct implentation of IMC creates synergy and delivers a message with much more punch and clarity. BMW is incoporating their marketing into their logo which is a classic example of IMC implementation, can you think of any others? maybe Apple or other car brands such as Lexus?

Branding and Marketing – A Perfect Marriage | MCNG Marketing

Branding and Marketing – A Perfect Marriage | MCNG Marketing | IMC.milestone1 | Scoop.it
Branding and Marketing are the perfect marriage. However, doing marketing is not the same as creating a brand. They are both essential to the success of a business.
Winina Tan's insight:
I really like reading this article. This article explains the clear difference between branding and marketing in the most easily and entertaining way. It says how even though branding and marketing are two different things, they need each other to become something great. With every point that the author has talked about, I feel he has a great understanding on what branding and marketing is, and the strengths and weaknesses it holds. To understand IMC, one must recognise the fundamental elements that is IMC. I believe if one works in the field of marketing, knowing the difference between branding and marketing is very important. And by reading this article it creates a more lucid picture of what they are and what they represent.

Agree with what you are saying but do not fully agree with how you define IMC. I believe to understand IMC one must understand how different messages impact the audience and how marketing is a part of every aspect of the brand, product and the firm.
Penny Liu's comment, March 21, 2013 4:50 AM
according to Azhar's comment, IMC is to board to limited in one article. however, this article is good to gain some aspects. and show us how important to link Branding and Marketing together : )
