Hello. Today we will be talking about sexual reproduction and genetics. Sexual reproduction is how something is made or carried on in life, which is also part of genetics. Genetics is what your genes and trait are made up of. For example, you and I are made from our mother and father, but we all have different genes.

On Monday I published a short guide to digital storytelling with comics. This evening I gave a free webinar presentation based on that free guide. More than 200 people registered for the webinar in less than 48 hours. If you wanted to join and missed it, the recording of the webinar, sponsored by Storyboard That, is now available here and as embedded below.

Excellent guide about how comics can be used to create short stories or to storyboard a larger project. Links to free versions of related software too - StoryboardThat.com; WeVideo.com (for turning comic strips into movies) and WidBook.com (for creating multimedia ebooks - and it's also a collaborative writing platform).

This is worth checking out. I am always searching for new ways to reach my students.

BI Media Specialists's curator insight, January 31, 2014 9:31 AM

This could be a very interesting program that could be used with students to review or retell what they have learned in a class.  We would love to teach this to your students and help them through their first project.  Any takers?

Now that all my students have iPads, I want to use this in my classroom! If admin won't approve the purchase of the app for all students, I'll use Nearpod to use it corporately from my iPad. Grammar Girl (Mignon Fogarty) is known for her easy-to-understand mneumonic devices and techniques for remembering those pesky grammar rules, which helps kids understand better. I've used her podcasts in class; now I'm excited to try her grammar game.

Are you ready to be challenged, If you have received 4 stars in your portfolio, try this game. record your score on the GrammarPop chart. good luck!

It’s the best of what makes technology so delightful. It just works, and produces great results with very little effort. I think people are going to love it to pieces."

36 Core Teacher Apps For Inquiry Learning With iPads - TeachThought

36 Core Teacher Apps For Inquiry Learning With iPads - TeachThought | Ideas for school | Scoop.it

"The interest in inquiry-based learning seems to ebb and flow based on–well, it’s not clear why it ever ebbs.

In short, it is a student-centered, Constructivist approach to learning that requires critical thinking, and benefits from technology, collaboration, resourcefulness, and other modern learning skills that never seem to fall out of favor themselves.

Regardless, St Oliver Plunkett Primary School has put together two very useful images that can help you populate your iPad–or classroom of iPads–with apps that support both inquiry-based learning (the second image below), and a more general approach to pedagogy based on Apple’s uber-popular tablet (the top image)."

Five Essentials To Create Connected Students (EdSurge News)

Five Essentials To Create Connected Students (EdSurge News) | Ideas for school | Scoop.it

"But being connected isn’t just for socializing; it’s a life skill. When untrained students get online, they treat academic writing online as if it were social media. They write sloppily and don't think of hyperlinking. If they do, it is often a long pasted link instead of a contextual link. In this connected world, there are invisibly disconnected kids, disconnected from the knowledge they need to be successful."

"FOUND is a curated collection of photography from the National Geographic archives. In honor of our 125th anniversary, we are showcasing photographs that reveal cultures and moments of the past. Many of these photos have never been published and are rarely seen by the public.  We hope to bring new life to these images by sharing them with audiences far and wide. Their beauty has been lost to the outside world for years and many of the images are missing their original date or location."
