nine colored men, who were arrested near Palmetto, Georgia, about the middle of March, upon suspicion that they were implicated in the burning of the three houses in February preceding. , Later own in palmetto Ga ., March 16 A Mob armed with shot guns and pistols came and rode  into palmetto at 1:00 in the Morning  and aimed and fired at 4 extra people killing all 9 of them total .

Ida B. Wells was born into slavery , july 1862 in Mississippi ,Though the Emancipation Proclamation of 1863 was intended to be the beginning of freedom for slaves, Her Parents and Siblings were finally freed and legally equal , and also the war ended in 1865 .
