WELCOME FELLOW CLASSMATES AND PROFESSOR!

Welcome!

Noel Christman's insight:

Here is my scoop it. I feel mind boggles right now but I believe scoop it is the medium for me. I have found 5 interesting articles (I could have went on for hours but I was cut off at 5 unless I buy a subscription to scoop it)

So, I could definitely spend an entire day on here. I have been totally clueless to the amount of online articles. I spent much time on this site and on pinterest working on this weeks discussion.

Hope you enjoy my scoop it on I-Pads in the Classroom!

I-Pads in the Classroom....YES PLEASE!!!

Not only could ipads be used but ipods too! I have brought up before how much progress my 6 year old made in 1st grade this year and I praise her ipod for doing the trick. I put several educational reading apps on her ipod and I can not believe to tell you how much her reading skill improved because she thought she was having fun...and learning at the same time! And to top it off, all the apps I used were free!

A question that arises for me is how many other schools out their use ipods or ipads in the classroom. It seems to be the norm in Berks county. I know 4 years ago when my girls were in private school I was shocked at the idea but since then it seems that everyone owns ipods and ipads.

I-Pads...future education!

The I-Pad is the future in education!

Noel Christman's insight:

The video I choose was I-pads in the classroom. I choose this because my kids have been using them for some time and its hard to believe that not all schools have them. 4 years ago when my children were still in private school they were brought in for reading and math skills. Now at our local public school they are distributed to all students and used in every class. They are also used for attendance.

Facilitate and inspire student learning activity.
I think its great the children have these. Especially for the ones whose families don't own their own. They get to see and use technology they wouldn't typically be able to use. Student are able to be more creative and are engaged more in activities through the ipads. There are so many educational apps. The good far surpasses the bad.

Design and develop digital age learning experiences and assessments.
Children are able to experience technology on a higher level then just simply computer class by using an ipad in the classroom. With every course whether it be reading or math or science, they are using a computer to learn beside simple pencil and paper. These are tool to our children's futures!

Model digital age work and learning
Students are able to collaborate with peers and fellow classmates more easily.

Below are links to a few videos and interesting recommendations I found on Pinterest supporting this article on ipads in the classroom.

I apologize for the several posts I am going to have to make to complete this assignment :( My laptop tends to freeze after about 15 minutes. My husband and I have been trying to figure out whats wrong with it for the past 2 days with no luck. As soon as I open more then one window, it freezes and everything I have typed up so far I loose :( Great timing laptop!!!!!

So, as I work I am going to have to keep submitting. Again I apologize and hope this is acceptable.

Here are more links I found very interesting to support how useful ipads in the classroom can be!!!
