15 Quotes on Enlightened Business Practice From Steve Jobs' Number One Guru

15 Quotes on Enlightened Business Practice From Steve Jobs' Number One Guru | Humanity's Leading Edge | Scoop.it
Steve Jobs gave away one parting gift at his funeral -- one last earthly gesture towards those closest to him -- "Autobiography of a Yogi", by Paramahansa Yogananda, the indian guru who brought yoga and mediation to the west. Here are 15 Quotes from the Master on enlightened business practice.
Deborah Jackson's insight:

Collectively we are really moving into an awareness that material gain must be driven by a need to serve and balanced with gains for our interior satisfaction. Steve Jobs identified with the instruction by Yogananda and shared what he had found so others may be inspired. This collection of quotes get to the heart of the matter. It's up to us to experience it as the heart of our own lives and businesses.

About the Darwin Project

About the Darwin Project | Humanity's Leading Edge | Scoop.it

In The Descent of Man Darwin wrote only twice about survival of the fittest -- but 95 times about love and 92 times about moral sensitivity!

Deborah Jackson's insight:

Again and again, we learn over time that what we were taught in school about some of the giants in history was so extremely partial that it makes what we learned a dangerous contribution to our knowledge base.

Ken Wilber Summary Of Spiral Dynamics Rational Spirituality

In Integral Psychology I present charts that summarize over 100 developmental psychologists, East and West, ancient and modern and postmodern. Spiral Dynamics is only one of the 100, but I have recently been using it quite a bit because it is simple and fairly easy to learn, even for beginners. Based on extensive research begun by Clare Graves, Spiral Dynamics (developed by Don Beck and Christopher Cowan) sees human beings evolving or developing through eight major waves of consciousness. For convenience, I will reprint my brief summary of these from A Theory of Everything.

Deborah Jackson's insight:

Click through to learn about Spiral Dynamics and if your mind is blown and loving it, you'll be absolutely changed and mesmerized by Integral Theory and Practice.

“Spiral Dynamics Integral is one of the first integral psychologies now available and, as presented by Don Beck, I give it my highest recommendation. It has profound implications for business, politics, education, and medicine, and it will give you the tools to begin applying these revolutionary ideas in your own field immediately. Don’t miss it!” ~ Ken Wilber, author-philosopher and president, Integral Institute

How to Get Really Old - The Intelligent Optimist

How to Get Really Old - The Intelligent Optimist | Humanity's Leading Edge | Scoop.it
To Aubrey de Grey, getting old has always seemed like a bad thing—a problem that needed solving.
Deborah Jackson's insight:

We should be grateful and supportive of people who dedicate their lives looking at problems from a different perspective than the pack. I feel a sense of relief when I hear people like Aubrey re-state problems the way I see them; very big picture and without narrow constraints. It gives me hope.

"The Heart Literally Has Its Own Brain" ~ Gregg Braden on Heart Math

"The Heart Literally Has Its Own Brain" ~ Gregg Braden on Heart Math | Humanity's Leading Edge | Scoop.it
Did you know the heart is not just a 'blood pump' but contains its own neurons and intelligence? For over 22 years, Gregg Braden has searched high mountain villages, remote monasteries and forgotten texts to uncover their timeless secrets. Combining his discoveries with the best science of today, his original research crosses the traditional boundaries of science, history, and religion offering fresh insights into ancient mysteries.
Deborah Jackson's insight:

Gregg Braden does such a nice job of bringing this information forward for the 21st century. This is just one of many videos and course training on the subject. Others are beginning to focus on the same concepts as it relates to other organs and systems in our body. Cells have intelligence, stomachs have intelligence and so on. I sometimes like to think of the body as a symbiotic ecosystem and when we honor and relate to each part as a living, breathing, vibrating, ever changing manifestation, it changes the human experience overall and the experience of our body into something extremely vibrant, exciting, and more empowered.

Deborah Jackson's insight:

This is not new wisdom for some, but, it is new science and we are readying to take on the task of reprogramming towards empowerment and joy and the uplift of humanity. This is possible now that we have played out the story that human greed, power, control and materialism have destructive ends.

Science can answer moral questions

Science can answer moral questions | Humanity's Leading Edge | Scoop.it
Questions of good and evil, right and wrong are commonly thought unanswerable by science. But Sam Harris argues that science can -- and should -- be an authority on moral issues, shaping human values and setting out what constitutes a good life.
Deborah Jackson's insight:

Yes! We so need progress on this topic as is demonstrated by the large number of comments. I appreciate that this man put his neck out a bit to stimulate the conversation.

Multiple Intelligences and Lines of Development

Have you ever wondered when you compare yourself to friends or family, that your family members or friends appear to excel in different areas than yourself, and yet also appear to lack in development of other areas in contrast to yourself?
Deborah Jackson's insight:

Identifying people as smart or dumb is painfully partial and we all know it. We are complex beings right? You bet, and we now have enough information to see the patterns of multiple intelligences and lines of development. This is great news because we can better support all these different capacities for children and throughout our lives when we can clearly see that it is possible.

The Human Project

The Human Project | Humanity's Leading Edge | Scoop.it

What should our generation do to advance the HUMAN project?

We know more. We are more connected. We can think bigger. We can mobilize at an unprecedented scale.

Deborah Jackson's insight:

An immense amount of work and crowd funding has gone into creating a book and an app for the HUMAN project and it truly is a gem. For ANY high schooler not knowing what to do with their lives, ANY college student, ANY anybody at any age who wants to contribute to the survival and uplift of humanity, the information gathered in this work can be a huge help. It will direct you to arenas identified as highly threatened by our current ways. It also provides guidance on who is already working in these arenas; we need some hotly inspired creative intelligence!

Even as mega-banks topple, Juan Enriquez says the big reboot is yet to come. But don't look for it on your ballot -- or in the stock exchange. It'll come from science labs, and it promises keener bodies and minds. Our kids are going to be ... different.

There is abundant data that our species is transitioning to a next stage. This leading edge of humanity is provocative, perceptible by a growing number of people, and a super exciting place to explore Life and to be a conscious participant in shaping how we evolve.

Sir Ken Robinson makes an entertaining and profoundly moving case for creating an education system that nurtures (rather than undermines) creativity.
Deborah Jackson's insight:

One of my all time favorite TED Talks is also one the popular for the TED site...for a reason...masses of people resonate personally with the message, yet we remain largely stuck with a seemingly intractable method of teaching children. Exhale.
