Evidence found at a site in Peru suggest the Chimu would sacrifice people to the ocean and moon to bring good rains for their crops that year. They believe that children had a connection to the spirit world. I found it very interesting that llamas were sacrificed along with the children to help carry them on their way into the afterlife.

Archaeologist are able to depict different methods of sacrificial methods as well as stories by the artwork on Moche pottery and metalwork that have been found in excavation sites. I really like how this article by Colleen P. Popson tells how victims were sacrificed. In ways that include throat-slitting, blood drinking and even defleshing.
