Since the times of Egyptians, make-up has been used by both men and women. Egyptians used to make their make-up dark and their skin pale, this was their fad back then. To do this, they used lead as makeup. It wasn’t until the 20th century that people started learning about the dangers of this.

While most Cosmetologists work in salons and barbershops, there’s other positions available in spas or resorts. For the entrapenuers, they can own their own place. Being your own boss has its benefits, but also its downfalls. For instance, self-employed Cosmetologist usually work long hours.

Barbers, Cosmetologists, and hairdressers work in all sorts of areas. Some may work in spas, hotels, resorts, or maybe lease booth space. Some Cosmetologist take a different approach and open their own shops. These occupations have pleasant work surroundings and good lighting is a MUST! Cosmetologists need good stamina, and can be on their feet a lot. Chemical exposure may occur if being irresponsible so its important to always be protected.

Most beauty schools and hair schools are the same, the thing is what you are looking for in the program you choose. For example, barber schools are strictly for a barber license whereas some cosmetology schools certify you in all areas of the career field.
