HOW MUSIC WORKS

HOW MUSIC WORKS

After this we´re going to learn this language by knowing the elements involved in creating songs in this way:

Elements of a Song - Melody, Chords, Lyrics

When you hear a song, there are usually several instruments and voices playing several notes at once. How do you understand this mess? We can break it down into three elements:

Melody.Chords.Lyrics.

We are going to organize the use of these elements in this way:

“Melody and Accompaniment”   (texture)    is divided into:

1. Lyrics, melodies and solos.

The aim is to construct Scales:  Mayor, Minor, Pentatonic

and to learn how to use of the circle of fifths and the key signature.

2. Accompaniment   (Harmony):

The goal is to construct and play Chords Mayor, Minor, Seventh.

Related to the rhythm (meters, beats…)

3. Structure: chorus, verse, middle eight, interlude, solo, bridge…
