Profile: Anh Do

Profile: Anh Do | History | Scoop.it
Buying his mum a house was a high point for this refugee-turned-comedian.
Kathy McKenzie's insight:

Read the Sydney Morning Heralds article about comedian Anh Do and his family's struggle to leave war torn Vietnam in 1980. Anh is one of many refugees that made their way to Australia after the war.

The Do family felt the need to leave Vietnam at great risk to themselves. Investigate and describe why families like Anh's would have made the decision to become refugees.

The Vietnamese War left many people displaced. This was a catalyst for the Australian Government to reassess its refugee policies. What was the outcome of these new policies and how lucky do you think refugees would feel to settle in Australia?

Kathy McKenzie's insight:

Use this website as a starting point for your research on our current topic World War One.

You will need to look at the places where Australians fought in WW1 in particular the Gallipoli campaign.

Click on the tab titled Landing and have a look at the information given about the landing at ANZAC cove, a very significant event in Australian history.
