L-Theanine; Gamma-ethylamino-L-glutamic acid

L-Theanine; Gamma-ethylamino-L-glutamic acid | Herbaria-Cerebra: The Nutrition Celestial Orbits | Scoop.it

L-Theanine is  Gamma-ethylamino-L-glutamic acid; derived from Boletus badius and Camellia sinensis.

L-theanine is also known as Suntheanine.

Theanine is derived from tea leaves.

The chemical has also been isolated from the edible mushroom Boletus badius.

L-Theanine may help relieve stress by inducing a relaxing effect without drowsiness and may also possess immunologic attributes.

L-theanine fine-tune brain waves:

A study showed that alpha waves were observed from the back to the top of a person's head (occipital and parietal regions of the brain) within approximately 40 minutes after the subjects had taken either 50 or 200 mg of L-theanine.

L-theanine has a significant effect on the release or reduction of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, resulting in improved memory and learning ability.

L-theanine may also influence emotions due to its effects on the increased release of dopamine. L-theanine reduces brain serotonin concentration by either curtailing serotonin synthesis or increasing degradation in the brain.

The regulation of blood pressure is partly dependent upon catecholaminergic and serotonergic neurons in both the brain and the peripheral nervous system. Studies on spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) showed an impressive blood pressure lowering effect with L-theanine.

Rosemary (Rosmarinus officinalis [Latin]), also known as rosemarine, has a long tradition of culinary and medicinal use.

Today, rosemary is still a popular herb for seasoning meats, and modern herbalists recommend it for treatment of depression, indigestion, headache, muscle aches, and bad breath.

Rosemary has been thought of as a memory booster throughout history.

Recent advances in the science surrounding the herb have shown that it inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine, which is a compound that plays a role in sections of the brain responsible for memory and reasoning. Rosemary may also promote memory function by increasing blood flow to the brain.

The brain is particularly susceptible to the effects of oxidative stress, as demonstrated by the condition's role in diseases such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.

Walnut; Juglans regia

Walnut; Juglans regia | Herbaria-Cerebra: The Nutrition Celestial Orbits | Scoop.it

Walnut is excellent if you want to improve your memory and brain performance.

Walnuts have often been thought of as a "brain food," not only because of the wrinkled brain-like appearance of their shells, but because of their high concentration of omega-3 fats.

Your brain is more than 60% structural fat. For your brain cells to function properly, this structural fat needs to be primarily the omega-3 fats found in walnuts, flaxseed and cold-water fish.

This is because the membranes of all our cells, including our brain cells or neurons, are primarily composed of fats.

The huge amounts of omega-3 in the nut not only improve cognitive function but also behavioral function. This is because omega-3 in the nut helps optimize neurological transmission and brain function.

Cell membranes are the gatekeepers of the cell. Anything that wants to get into or out of a cell must pass through the cell's outer membrane.

Also,  omega-3 fats, which are especially fluid and flexible, make this process a whole lot easier, thus maximizing the cell's ability to usher in nutrients while eliminating wastes--definitely a good idea, especially when the cell in question is in your brain.

Moreover, besides being a source of melatonin :),  the nutrients Lutein and zeaxanthin in the nut are essential for the retina of your eyes.

CAUTION:

When eating Walnut, we should little careful. Walnut is hot and increase mucus. So do not eat more than 5 Walnut once. By eating more walnuts bile will increase. By which blister in mouth, itch in throat and indigestion will be happen.

Royal jelly is high in a very special hydroxy acid called 10-HDA.

It is the active ingredient of royal jelly and this substance helps boost the immune system. German and French researchers have shown that 10-HDA helps the body kill viruses. Somehow the 10-HDA in the royal jelly gets into the white blood cells and stimulates the white blood cells to kill viruses, including the viruses that cause herpes virus (cold sores and genital) and hepatitis.

Ginkgo biloba (Ginkgo biloba [Latin]), also known as maidenhair tree, is the oldest species of tree on earth today; it’s been around since the days of the dinosaur.

Ginkgo is immune to the effects of most diseases and parasites—a tree can live to be a thousand years old!

Perhaps it’s not surprising, then, that this tree is used to promote longevity in humans as well.

This ancient herb acts to enhance oxygen utilization and thus improves memory, concentration, and other mental faculties.

The herbal extract has also been shown to significantly improve long-distance vision and may reverse damage to the retina of the eye.

It is said to be effective in improving the blood flow to the hands and the feet as well as stimulating the brain and reducing short-term memory loss and Age-associated memory impairment (AAMI).

It increases blood flow to the brain, the uptake of glucose by brain cells, and has been said to improve the transmission of nerve signals.

Note that the use of Ginkgo with Ginseng enhances the functionality of both.
