'Green outsourcing' can be a way to optmize resource allocation, thus contributing to energy savings. It can also involve green supplier selection, while looking at more sustainable options. Tangible benefits of adopting such an approach include a better knowledge of supplier data, which allows for a refinement of business risk assessment in the supply chain, and improve supplier relationship. Ultimately, it is necessary in order to fulfill stakeholders' need for increased CSR disclosure and transparency, according to Jonathan Tapp, Head of Sustainability Services at Capgemini.
