TOWS, the next step of SWOT analysis

TOWS, the next step of SWOT analysis | Helping by deductive reasoning | Scoop.it

No, TOWS is not just a rearrangement of SWOT. One leads into the other. Several of the responses to my SWOT entry recommended using a TOWS approach. Sensing an opportunity to create a similar entry, I looked at all the ways that you could display a TOWS analysis. Alas, there seems to be only one main way, so here is a quick look at TOWS analysis. For a detailed background on TOWS and its implementation, read the 19 page original article on TOWS by Heinz Weihrich in Long Range Plannin. [Hohhof article]

I like what is been said about the swot analysis of a company and also going backwards as tows. This is interesting! I'll like to know more about this topic.

Customer Experience Intelligence Inspires Innovation

Customer Experience Intelligence Inspires Innovation | Helping by deductive reasoning | Scoop.it

The most intelligent organizations are overcoming battlegrounds and silos to maximize their return on customer intelligence. They're insisting on the "dog wagging the tail" by instilling customer experience context for all actions and decisions company-wide. They're applying customer intelligence to innovate the full customer experience "bundle". And they're equipping organizational learning by sharing, showing actionable patterns, focusing on what customers are trying to get done, and being proactive in enabling customers to love the company. .

How Your Face Affects First Impressions

How Your Face Affects First Impressions | Helping by deductive reasoning | Scoop.it

In a new study, researchers in the United Kingdom investigated how facial features can impact first impressions. As it turns out, the presence of certain physical characteristics can enable scientists to predict what initial judgments will be drawn.

"If people are forming these first impressions, just based on looking at somebody's face, what is it about the image of the face that's giving that impression -- can we measure it exactly?" lead researcher Dr. Tom Hartley, a neuroscientist at the University of York, told BBC News.

Tips That May Help You Turn Into A Better Cook

When you get in to the practice of preparing meals constantly, it might turn into a very boring experience. Instead, what about training yourself on new and creative cooking techniques? There's more to cooking than simply preparing a good meal for the family it may actually be a pleasurable experience while you test out new methods for cooking. This information has lots of handy suggestions to enhance your cooking skills. You should have sharp knives when cooking. Dull knives are definitely more dangerous to utilize plus they are less productive also. It is possible to cut yourself if you work with a dull knife than slicing it having a very sharp one. Maybe you have felt sorry for throwing away moldy fruits? Maybe you have made an effort to salvage a fruit by slicing away the negative-looking part? Unfortunately, there isn't any strategy for saving fruit which includes begun to rot. Throw half-rotten fruit away, because mold will go much deeper than the eyes are able to see you will get very sick from eating food with mold. If you wish crispier and crunchier French-fried potatoes, then soak the potatoes within a bowl of cold water for a period of a minimum of 30 minutes before use. The soaking process will reinforce the vegetable fibers, and they will be better capable of withstand heat once you fry them. When attempting to reduce strips of meat, partially freeze it to get a more firm cut. Should you be making Asian dishes, including Thai or Chinese food, this a very good idea. In the event the meat is partially frozen, its texture is maintained nicely, even though sliced into thin strips. After you have sliced the meat, allow it to thaw out before cooking. This keeps the meat cooking evenly. When creating food for a person whom you need to impress, adhere to a familiar dish that you are currently confident preparing. Don't try to make a new dish when you're not proficient in cooking it already. This may decrease the stress of your own cooking. Can you enjoy flavoring the food with fresh basil? Try taking a little fresh basil and set a number of it within a glass. Include some water to protect the stems. Make it in the kitchen counter and it also should stay fresh. Modify the water regularly and roots will grow. Trim or cut the basil regularly to encourage growth and it will be possible to take pleasure from fresh basil! Utilizing these suggestions to cook food with panache can ignite a passion you never knew existed. A wonderful way to approach cooking is always to try the food in the process. You may learn a bit more about yourself while cooking. When cooking becomes a lesser chore and a lot more of your adventure, your foods is going to be tastier.

What It Will Take to Fix HR

What It Will Take to Fix HR | Helping by deductive reasoning | Scoop.it

In the July/August issue of HBR, Ram Charan argues that the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) role should be eliminated, with HR responsibilities funneled in two separate directions — administration, led by traditional HR-types, reporting to the CFO; and talent strategy, led by high-potential line managers, reporting to the corner office. While my colleague and I vehemently agree that HR’s status quo is an inhibitor to growth, it is with the same fervor that we disagree with Ram’s proposed solution.

Really? Break up a strategic function in response to underperformance in the wake of severe market disruptions? Put the most strategic pieces into the hands of up-and-comers passing through the leadership-development revolving door? What would the capital markets look like today if a similar tack had been taken when the CFO role was ripe for transformation?

Via The Learning Factor
Fola Obadina's insight:

Hr should fish talent out internally when a promotion occurs because talents in their level of positions have been trained in the job for years and so some are equipped to handle higher position and just need to be identified. This I feel should be part of hr's strategy task, too.

Truly, appreciate Charan's article!
