Dangerous under-age drinking on rise

Dangerous under-age drinking on rise | Hayley - Term 1 PDH | Scoop.it
EVERY day in NSW, on average, three children get so drunk they require an ambulance, figures obtained by the Herald reveal.
Hayley Cross's insight:

This article talks about the dangers of under-age drinking. I scooped this page because it is very useful to me and also anyone wanting to learn more about how serious it is for minors to be drinking.

The article is very engaging, using statistics to emphasise the risks associated with drinking, how many casualties and injuries there are. This website also lists the results of surveys which investigated how many people drink, and how often.

This article is helpful to me and has added to my knowledge of how serious drinking is, and has made me more aware of how many people can die or become ill because of alcohol consuption.

Alcohol - teenagers - Better Health Channel

Alcohol - teenagers - Better Health Channel | Hayley - Term 1 PDH | Scoop.it
Alcohol or 'booze' is widely used by teenagers. Binge drinking, drink driving and unsafe sex can all result from the misuse of alcohol. Alcohol is responsible for most drug-related deaths in the teenage population.
Hayley Cross's insight:

This is a positive article which covers many things related to the topic of alcohol and overdrinking. The article mentions something which I personally think is a large factor in why people drink, is because parents believe that alcohol is not really bad, which in fact it is. It lists the risks, then later on elaborates on the consequences of alcohol use - such as unprotected sex, road accidents, brain damage, liver and heart disfunctionality, and also damge to other parts of the body. The article mentions the ways to avoid overuse of alcohol, and also other ways to prevent alcohol abuse. I finally like how this website has listed where to get help.

Teenage girls binge drinking

Teenage girls binge drinking | Hayley - Term 1 PDH | Scoop.it
ALMOST half of teenage girls admit to binge drinking regularly, a survey has revealed.
Hayley Cross's insight:

This article is great, because it gets straight to the point, and is eye-catching because of the bold sub-heading. It shocks me how young girls drink to excess on a regular basis.

I would definitely recommend this website to an audience who is wanting statistics and facts about teenage girls excessively drinking.

Herald Sun's news snippet portrays many statistics and facts about teenage underage drinking, and the possible reasons why girls binge drink. I agree with what the first quote mentioned, that celebrities, who are role models to some, are not encouraging young girls to not dangerously drink, but in fact doing the opposite and showing some people that to them drinking is perfectly normal and safe.

Fall in teenage binge drinking

Fall in teenage binge drinking | Hayley - Term 1 PDH | Scoop.it
Australia's brewers, ramping up their campaign against government-mandated warnings on alcohol products, have seized on the nation's latest and largest survey on teenagers' drinking habits to declare that it ''dispels the myth that there is an...
Hayley Cross's insight:

This article is somewhat useful but similar to some of my other articles. The page is crammed with statistics about the fall of teenage binge drinking.

I thought the article was quite interesting, as most people associate teenagers with negative actions, such as drinking, and most believe that more and more teenagers are drinking to excess and getting drunk. But these statistics are reliable and show that this stereotype is not the case.
