Alec Berndt's insight:

With people getting their rights taken away from them, they are becoming more violent towards the people who should be keeping them safe. The government should make them feel safe instead of making them feel threatened, they should make them feel safe and protect the rights they already have instead of taking some away.

Good and bad news for gun owners in latest Gallup poll
Daily Caller
However, Gallup's poll found less opposition to gun control when less extreme laws are also considered.
Alec Berndt's insight:

This article explains that activists against gun control have lost support from the public because of recent shootings in Newtown, Connecticut, December 2012. in 1959, 39% of people polled wanted to ban hand guns, now 74% of people polled do. The Sumpreme Court rulled that the second ammendment of the constirution protects citizens' right to own handguns, and it does so nationwide. 62% of people polled in 1959 said that gun sale laws should be made more strict, while only 49% say that today.

i agree that there should be background checks on gun owners but i dont see the logic in taking away guns completely. i feel safer in retrospect being armed than not being armed. if i get jumped or see someone in trouble i see it as my duty to do something and if means of lethal force are needed then so be it. means one less bad guy right?

Alec Berndt's insight:

This gives gun owners a way to make sure their guns are safe from people who should not be using them or have access to them. It gives the owners a way to keep their guns by their bed so only they can access it in case an intruder comes into their house. It also shows that people can be responsible for themselves with things that could be dangerous without any more gun control than there already is.

Very fascinating idea! It provides an opportunity for gun owners to take full ownership so that hopefully they do not harm anybody.

The Lie-Driven Agenda: Gun Control Saves Lives

The Lie-Driven Agenda: Gun Control Saves Lives | Gun Control | Scoop.it
Do some Americans really believe the central motivating force behind the gun control debate is to protect innocent human life from evil? It’s not. In fact, if we look at this clearly, one could mak...
Alec Berndt's insight:

This page is emphasizing how the government knows that the benefits to allowing citizens to keep their guns heavily outweigh the problems. They are saying that the government is lying about the pros and cons to make it look like the cons are much worse and that they will not even out.

So many argue for less gun control, but those nasty guns always end up in the hands of criminals."

Alec Berndt's insight:

This page some form of gun control, saying that with less gun control, "those nasty guns always end up in the hands of criminals". The idea that the author of this page wants to put into place is to take guns away from everyone, no matter what. But how would they do that? Have the people give them up or would the government do an unlawful entry to take them away from people? Locks only keep honest people out.

McAuliffe: 'I Don't Care What Grade I Got From The NRA,' More Gun Control Is Necessary

McAuliffe: 'I Don't Care What Grade I Got From The NRA,' More Gun Control Is Necessary | Gun Control | Scoop.it
Speaking in the final Virginia gubernatorial debate on October 24, Democrat candidate Terry McAuliffe said he doesn't care "what grade [he] got from the NRA" and that more gun control is necessary.
Alec Berndt's insight:

This article talks about how stricter gun control laws would not have prevented a shooting, and that the criminals who do the shootings are "almost impossible to find" before they decide to start shooting. One thought is to aim more gun control at the mentally ill, becasue the majority of people are found to suffer from some kind of mental illness. However, these people are only found to suffer from mental illnesses after they have been arrested and taken into questioning.
