Modi’s government has been installed in power. It is time to consider the implications. We are interested in what this change will mean to Pakistan. 


Let me cast this issue in a different light. When Pakistan was created 1947, the date was 27th of Ramadan. A blessed day where God’s message was, I have created this country in my name and hereinafter, I will protect it. So we observe that inspite of what happened in Bangladesh and what India did under Indira Gandhi to destroy Pakistan and what Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (ZAB) did in inciting wars against India. Pakistan still lives. What our politicians and our Army and our corruption have not succeeded to destroy Pakistan. Pakistan still exists.


Yesterday was the night of Shab-e-Miraj, the Night in which the Prophet (P.B.U.H) ascended to Heaven on his burak to meet the Lord of the Worlds. This was also the night when Modi was being installed in power. What could be the Lord of the Worlds message except that I promise to protect Pakistan against destruction in war now I will protect it in peace let the two-countries bury the bitterness of the past and live in peace.


The history of mankind is full of instances where yesterday’s terrorist is today’s peace-maker. Nelson Mandela for example was considered to be a terrorist and was jailed for many years yet he appeared afterwards as the symbol and architect of South-Africa’s freedom.


George Washington was deemed to be a terrorist and today is hailed as the Father of the Nation.

 

We can consider many examples from history where terrorists became peace-makers and were given the title of Father of the Nation.


So I forecast will be the case with Narendra Modi. He will be known not as a terrorist but as the founder and father of modern India.

 

Nothing is impossible for the Lord of the Worlds. All He has to say is, Be and it is. It is the command that is obeyed every time. Be and it is. This is the Lord’s will and so it will be.


As for Nawaz Sharif he could not have asked for anything better. Now his privatization initiatives will all be crowned with success. India will buy everything. The Indians want to own Pakistani assets and they will get what they desire. I would recommend that Pakistan sets up an office of the privatization commission in New Delhi. No road-shows are necessary. The Indians know Pakistan better than we do.


Peace will also mean that the India whose role in the Asian century was inhibited due to the necessity to maintain a large Army and weapons against the threat from Pakistan will now be freed from this necessity of an arms race. Both nations will benefit. There will be a huge peace dividend.

Pakistan will have to be realistic. The part cannot be greater than the whole. India gave birth to Pakistan. Pakistan was a part of India. That which is a part cannot be greater than the whole. All else is rhetoric. Yes, Pakistan can be an equal only in terms of sovereignty and diplomatic recognition.

On this optimistic note, I end this discussion. Let peace prevail.

A mosquito bit a pompus politician in the back side.
It was carrying the dengue virus
This is called the bottom up approach
It works only in Pakistan
The politician developed dengue fever
Over and over again he said
Do not laugh at me I will be back
I will get you for your insolence
I will infect you with dengue
You will have dengue in the brain
I will hang you, if you challenge me
You will have dengue
Pity the nation with dengue on their brain
But the politician says over and over again
I will hang you
If you resist the change
And so the politicians infected the nation
The threatened to hang people who resisted
In the end the people got so disgusted with the song
That the people should be shut these people in loony bins
Just to keep them quite
The people reacted.
They sent the politicians to hell
And went directly to the people’s court
They caught hold of the politicians and dumped them in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital
Abbasi Shaheed Hospital had no room for these politicians.
They dumped them with the victims of the fire
That is why you see a discrepancy in the number of the dead
They are now in hell fire
Where they belong
Those who send other people to hell
Had better look after themselves
The mills of God grind slowly

NB: They put the politicians to a DNA test. The Nawaz League DNA matched.

As we consider the case of the Christian girl and how she was trapped by the powers that be in Pakistan. I am reminded of the prayer of St. Francis of Assisi which I am quoting here in full

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.

where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

If we are to get out of this mess of target killing, state sponsored terror and the struggle with America. We must begin and end our days with this prayer.

I have just returned from a very informative session on entrepreneurship at my Rotary Club. When I read the economic policy of the PTI I had a feeling that something was missing. I now realize that is a vital link between PTI and its constituents has to be created; that link is “Entrepreneurship.” I do not believe that the number crunchers that have come up with the policy are in touch with the reality of Pakistan. It is not Pakistan Ivy League Professors totaling the economy and measuring variables. It is about real people rolling up their sleeves and going to work to better their prospects. It is about plumbers, it is about masons, it is about plasterers, sanitary fitters and their like who have become major builders, it is about small people in the transport sector who started with single taxi and now own fleet, it is about Faisalabad and iron mongers, it is about Sialkot and their economic miracle. How to build a city with its own airport and a thriving international trade. It is about Pakistan and it is people who take risk and reap the rewards. It is not about technicians crunching numbers. PTI has devised a technically a good economic plan that has lost the soul of Pakistan and yet commands us.


My advise is own and encourage these entrepreneurs, facilitate their growth and you will have achieved a self sustaining a dynamic economic

There was a preacher called Malcolm X who defined the best in religion and created a site called nation of Islam. That pleaded the cause of African Muslims. He was assassinated for his advocacy. I find myself in a similar situation.


I have prayed at Deobandi mosques, I have prayed at the Brailvi mosques, I have prayed at the Benori mosques, I have prayed at the Ahal-e-sunnat mosque, I have prayed at the Jamat-e-Islami mosque. I have prayed at Datta Darbar, I have prayed at Shia mosque in Bahrain. It has been my practice to arrive early at the place of worship and to leave late.


I have therefore had the occasion to interact with the faithful at these mosques, particularly members of the mosque committee. Everywhere is the same. We are right the others are wrong and this from the following of a merciful God who make mo difference between His faithful. Having breathed his spirit into mankind and made him the ultimate creation. And this from the following of the prophet (PBUH) who said, “ I a human like you follow me where I am empowered by the Lord and Master. Therefore my sunnah where it is confirmed by God himself and Hadiths, do not follow me when I am saying something on my own.”


I was the practice of the Sahaba to ask the prophet (PBUH) if he was saying something on his own or whether what he was saying was confirmed by Allah and forms a part of his Hadith.
I rest my case for religious tolerance; I rest my case for condemnation of extrematism. Hazarat Umer was the leading exponent of tolerance. Rasool(PBUH) Allah was commanded by Allah to read and to express knowledge of the Quran. infact the first words of the Quran are “Iqra: Read in the name of Lord” every year in Ramdhan the Gabriel came to the prophet(PBUH) with new revelations and asked him to repeat what he already learnt.


Finally when the Muslims had conquered Jerusalem and the Christians priests were signing the documents of surrender, Umer said to them, “No I will not ask for these terms because this will mean that your Church is subject to our jurisprudence, no we will not have this.”


Upon Umar's arrival in Jerusalem, a pact known as The Umariyya Covenantwas composed. It surrendered the city and gave guarantees of civil and religious liberty to Christians in exchange for jizya. It was signed by caliph Umar on behalf of the Muslims, and witnessed by Khalid, Amr, Abdur Rahman bin Awf, and Muawiyah. In late April 637, Jerusalem was officially surrendered to the caliph. For the first time, after almost 500 years of oppressive Roman rule, Jews were once again allowed to live and worship inside Jerusalem.
It has been recorded in the annals of Muslim chronicles, that at the time of the Zuhr prayers, Sophronius invited Umar to pray in the rebuilt Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Umar declined, fearing that accepting the invitation might endanger the church's status as a Christian temple, and that Muslims might break the treaty and turn the temple into a mosque. After staying for ten days in Jerusalem, the caliph returned to Medina.

Yesterday the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) announced its Judgment on the status of Prime Minster. The judgment overturned the verdict of the speaker which had validated the continuation of the convicted PM, briefly stated and as extensively reported the daily Express Tribune today; June 20, 2012.

 

The PM stood disqualified since April 26, 2012 and the President was asked to ensure continuation of the democratic process. In continuation of this order the election commission de-notified the PM. And the office the PM became vacant.

 

The PPP has accepted this decision and a process for selection of the new PM is underway. Several names are under consideration and the final decision will be conveyed on the June 22, 2012. People under consideration are Ahmed Mukhtar, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Khursheed Shah, and also Qamar zaman Kaira.

 

I have listed my choice, I think Kaira should be given his chance; Kaira for PM I said as much earlier, he is a good man, a decent man and trusted associate of BB. We need a decent man, a good man and upright man. It will clean up the politics.

 

I have for the president some personal advice; it is contained in song by Geeta Bali in the film Baazi. It is time to adopt the presidential system.

He should be president Zardari in his own right not a leader of a coalition. Use your political power to muster a two third majority and amend the constitution. Mr. President if you amend the constitution and bring presidential system you will follow the footprints of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah then people of Pakistan will be with you. Submerge Bhutto's message with that of the Quaid you will win every time.

As it is the people of Pakistan, the real Pakistanis don’t care for your politics. Be very careful there is a bloody revolution in the making. When the storm comes it will blow away everything. Act now see the opportunity to get the power to benefit the people constructively. This is a small window of opportunity which can disappear very quickly. Have you not noticed what happened with Riaz Fatiana. This can happen everywhere and anywhere.

Our child Younus had died in the cradle. My wife was disconsolate. Nothing I could say would persuade her that even if she had been awake she could not prevented Younus’s death. It was useless arguing with her that Younus was Allah’s property to give and to take. Eventually I said to her let us go for Umrrah and ask Allah to give us a son to replace Younus. When we landed in Makkah to perform the Umarrah it was by stroke of great fortune Shab-e-Mehraj. What does a blind man need but the light of Allah what does the injured soul need but the cure of faith. We prayed the whole night at Babe Ibarahim at the foot of Kaa’ba. In supplication and in faith we prayed to the Almighty to give us a son to replace Younus. Exactly a year later on Shab-e-Meharaj our son Yahaya was born. It was 16th of August 1974. It was as if Allah was conveying a message. You asked for a gift, I do not disappoint those who pray to me in full faith and have belief in the last prophet (PBUH). What a perfect gift it has been; tall handsome, erudite and loving child. He is the light of our existence. He is the tall tree under which the rest of the family has flourished.
Shukar Alhamdulil Aallh. May God grant him long life, may God grant that we continue to enjoy this blessing.

I saw Malik Riaz on TV yesterday, answering questions from Duniya’s anchors Meher Bukhari and Mubashir Luqman. There was nothing in the discussion that could persuade me that Malik Riaz was not on a personal vendetta with the CJP I was disappointed with Mubashir's line of questioning he asked why Riaz Malik was being singled out for special treatment when icons of Banking and Stock Exchange were not similarly targeted. I want to remind Mubashir that the icons he referred to small are small fry. They will exploit institutions such as NIT and Stat Life of Pakistan or Adamjee Insurance. Malik Riaz is in class of his own. He buys and sellsPakistan.

In any case I would like the reader to note that the present day Islamabad is a replica of the Tombstonecity, Arizona. I would like reader to note how bitterly disappointed, Wyatt Earp not to have received honor and recognition and how the present day rulers compete for recognition but there is a difference Wyatt Earp represented the law. The ruling coalition represents the cowboys’. It is almost hundred years ago and the ruling coalition might as well be the cowboys of the Wild West. Nothing has changed.

One has to be grateful to the Dawn once again. They have said what the government does not want to hear. The populist budget has been crafted at the cost of credibility. The government knows but does not admit that this populism is impossible to sustain. All of the borrowing is from the State Bank of Pakistanat interest rates that are in the double digits. Yet it claims that inflation has been checked, if that were so why the government is borrowing at more than 12%. Why is the dollar climbing, if investors are clamoring to invest in Pakistan? Nothing of this sort is happening. In fact there are massive outflows of capital. What is happening in Faisalabad where the massive outflow of funds has already taken place should have been an eye opener.

 

The people of Balochistan have already rejected the budget and refusing to pay extra burden demanded. The Supreme Court of Pakistan has summoned the Prime Minister to explain the treatment meted out to Balochistan. The SCP is invoking article 6; meaning treason if the government does not change its ways in Balochistan.

 

Already the people of Pakistan have rejected the budget. The stock market has not responded to this budget. It has been greeted by diminishing turnover and falling prices. It is fruitless to argue that this is due to the turmoil in Europe. The Europeans are looking after their own interest and will survive. Why then is our government choosing to annoy the Americans and NATO and isolating itself?

 

Commodity prices have taken a huge hit on the basis of under performing US market. And this time the government is gambling on providing incentives to agriculture and refusing to tax either property or agriculture. Witness the fact that cotton is at lowest level in many years. So is sugar at its lowest level and government should not stop talking about rice and mangoes for which international market is suffering from a glut of supply.

 

The government coalition believes that if it solves the load shedding problem it will have a smooth sailing for re-election. They have therefore shifted the defense minister Ahmed Mukhar to the power and fuel ministry.  And the power and water ministry has given to Naveed Qamer.

Whether Naveed Qamar will be able to deliver is a separate question.

Ahmed Mukhtar is Punjabi establishment and has deep roots in the province of Punjab. It is a good choice.

 

It now appears that the government will approach the IMF for new financing. The finance minister has left this unsaid. He shirks responsibility. Nothing in the budget is based on realism. The IMF will set its own terms, and these terms will not dignify the stewardship of the economy of the present government. A shameful surrender is in the cards. God help Pakistan. 

 

In the mean time the killing in Karachi continues and is going to be a major reason why the ruling coalition may not be given five more years.

I thought I was through with the budget and its implications for the ordinary Pakistani. In particular I was concerned with outright fibs that would be offered. I have now to delight you with deep insights of what is on offer. This book “The Three Sages” by Charles Morris shows what a complete fraud this budget is and what the consequences of this budget will be. The ruling coalition and its convicted Prime Minister have taken the people for a ride. The consequences are too horrible to contemplate. They will continue to borrow and spend recklessly, hyperinflation will be the result but the entire belt tightening is for the ordinary people. They are not going to cut down on government expenditure. In fact all government employees including those who in the armed forces are going to be heavily patronized; increases of 60 percent to 80 percent. The PPP is trying to buy the next election. Will it succeed? This is doubtful as the people will be asked to pay more and more taxes and receive no service in return. The private sector will be squeezed out; lack of energy will lead the industrial capacity to be under utilized. The PM knows it and wants to work a miracle to overcome load shedding, its impossible but there is no harm in trying and lying to the people that the problem will be overcome.


The government is reluctant to tax agriculture. It wants to offer premium prices to the farming sector. So the people pay for food more than they should. And food security which is the boast of the present government remains an empty promise; nearly all middle class households now survive on Dal Chawal (Pulse & rice). The poor have to starve as frequent strikes deprive the daily wages earners of their income. The shopkeepers suffer because the Karachi unrest causes entire localities to be shut down. The factory owner suffers because labor cannot report for work.


It is a pity that what should have been the blessing for Pakistan its agriculture base should now be the basis of its distress. The exploitation of labor is necessary to provide rents to the land owner. It is unfortunate that no commentator mentioned slave labor in their criticism. Entire families are laboring for generations at an end to repay the loans that their family had to take to repay previous loans. The exploitation of labor is not confined to agriculture. It extends to brick making as well, so much then for the budget and what is in it for the people.


The founding fathers of American constitution two hundreds ago were all slave owners who relied on the slaves to cultivate their farms and cater to their personal needs. Their curse was the land. It is similar to our experience in Pakistan. The Americans had to perfect their union and move from a con-federal to a federal dispensation. In the mean time South Carolina (SC) government was able to blackmail the federation to permit slavery for thirty more years or else South Carolina would leave the federation. Is that not what we are experiencing in Pakistan with the Punjab? It needed Abraham Lincoln to abolish slavery. Both Pakistan and India are searching for their Lincoln, they are waiting for the Gettysburg address:
"Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.

Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

Juxtaposition Lincoln’s Gettysburg address and Martin Luther King’s speech “I have a dream” and you have captured Muahmmad Ali Jinnah’s dreams for Pakistan. It is Pakistan that protects the minorities and respects all its citizens and their aspirations. It is land of equality of opportunity for all. It is a land that respects all the faiths and has defined secularism in the most human of terms.


I intend in my next submission to compare the achievement of the tree sages and the founding fathers of the Bantva miracle. The lessons of the three sages are captured very vividly in the history of Sir Adamjee, Hussian Kassim Dada and Haji Habib Culcattawala.

There is much in the program—Cross Talk; related to dysfunctional governance and a suffering population. There is a much that throws doubt on the ability of the government to make a budget that is sustainable and people friendly at the same time. We could dismiss this budget as being lies damn lies and statistics. I would rest my case here the budget is classical example of the adage. Latest news the dollar is being quoted in the open market at PKR96 to the dollar.

This not the subject that I want to address today, I want to discuss the fate of little children. I want to discuss the fate of little children of Houla in Syria. The history of India has been distorted. It has been distorted by one woman named Indira Gandhi. All our troubles in the sub-continent can be traced to the stubbornness of this woman. It is to her that we owe Modi (who is now the first PM who was born in Independent India.)

 

This naming of the Congress as the party of the Gandhis is misleading. This Sonia is no descendant of Mahatma Gandhi.

 

This has a parallel in the Pakistani politics where none of these politicians has any linkage with the Founding Father, Muhammad Ali Jinnah. A sub-continent that should have been the mother of tolerance is today hostage to divisions and bitterness.

 

What is in store for this vast sub-continent? Modi is intolerant of the Muslims. He has no time to waste over Pakistan. His mission is to re-create Hindutva. It is a poisonous heritage that he owes to Indira Gandhi.

 

Hopefully, the two-countries will not go to war but I see a new Shimla conference where the heirs of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto sign a document of surrender before Indira Gandhi’s heirs. That is the negative vision what might happen.

 

Are there any positives? Of course, there are positives.

 

For the positives to be realized what Modi now needs to do is to have someone in his party at the highest level who represents the Muslims this will cool down the temperature and the bitterness of the elections.

 

Also let us hope that he is faithful to his agenda and manifesto which is for the next 5 years will be about development (as per the campaign promises) and not the religious ideologies of the BJP/RSS. His victory speech promised Growth, "Government is for the common man. It is time to not to die but live for the nation." And it is no surprise that he admires and emulates the Great Gujarati leader Vallabhbhai Patel who was one of the founding fathers of the Republic of India and the right-hand man of Mahatma Gandhi. Everything points to a bonding with the Gandhi heritage except the poison of Hindutva.

 

Also remember that Modi is a creation of corporate India and he is bound to further their interest. Who are the corporate barons of India? The Ambanis of Reliance group --- Gautam Adani of Adani Group and others. They like to show their wealth to build monumental structures worshipping the God of Money.

 

They would be more than willing to come to terms with the idea of Trade with Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif has made it the main plank of his election. He wants trade with India at any cost. And he is willing to give "most favored nation" (MFN) treatment to India. It is to be noted how far he has come from his own heritage… his mentor Zia-ul-Haq would never have approved of this approach.

 

The fly in the ointment is the establishment which does not like the idea of Trade with India or giving MFN status to India. To compound the problems, the establishment in India may also be hostile to opening this avenue for trade.

 

The newly named India’s Army Chief Dalbir Singh Suhag is a hawk. So we do not know as yet how this issue will play out. 

 

My advice to PM Nawaz is not to waste time, not to let grass grow under his feet, not to let the establishment in Pakistan to chain him. He should not only invite Modi to Pakistan, He should go the extra mile, He should lead a delegation of Pakistani businessmen, Bankers, Economists and of course the Finance Minister without whom nothing is possible. He may succeed in breaking the ice. The Indians who back Modi want economic growth and trade. Let Nawaz present his vision of growth and harmony. May be, just maybe he will succeed. That is what Jinnah and Gandhi would have wanted.

 

The world does not begin and end with China, Of course they are our friends but a China centric policy that is directed against India will not work even China does not want it.

 

It is my earnest prayer that the sub-continent rises and embraces the vision of Gandhi that is the only salvation. Otherwise, we will all go down in fire. Fire defines Hell.

 

Finally, I reflect life is about unintended consequences. Nawaz Sharif never wanted to model himself after the founder Jinnah but now in his quest for peace with India he will realize the Founders dream. If he succeeds, He will go down in history, as the most successful, the most effective leader of Pakistan. I wish him the best.

Today the nation is celebrating; Defense of Pakistan Day. It is appropriate that we reproduce Ayub Khan’s Speech in full. The story of the speech bears repeating. It has been narrated to me by my friend Humanyun Gauhar. It was the 6th of September 1965. Altaf Gauhar was information secretary of Government of Pakistan. Ayub called him at breakfast time and said I am declaring war on India, draft my speech. Reach Radio Pakistan. Altaf Gauhar drafted the speech on the back of the cigarette packet and took it to radio Pakistan where Ayub Khan was waiting, the historic phrase; “Woh Nahin jantay kis Qaum ko Lalkara hai” is a product of Altaf Gauhar’s unmatched penmanship. And by the evening Madam Noor Jahan was singing, “Aye meray watan ke jawano, meray naghmay tumharay liay hain” and “Jang khaid nai hundi jananian di.” Even today these songs lift the nation’s spirit.

 

Let us now move to the splendid response of the nation to Ayub’s appeal. The Pakistan Air Force dominated the sky. People in Lahore laydown before the Indian tanks blew them up; India was not allowed to cross into Lahore. The boast of Indian generals of having a chota peg in the Lahore Gymkhana got stuck in their throats.

 

It was a magnificent response to the India challenge. We had to call it off because the Americans insisted that the weapons could not be used against India. A truce was called and action moved toTashkent where under the auspices of the Russians. The Kashmir issue and all outstanding matters would be discussed. It is a different matter that Lal Bhadur Shastry died inTashkent of heart attack. And Bhutto was able to capitalize on this situation claiming that Ayub had sold Pakistanin at Tashkent. It is this untruth which Bhutto used to oust Ayub Khan.  

 

Now let us reflect on the nation’s response why did the people of Pakistan rise so magnificently to this Indian challenge. The simple answer is we believed in Pakistan its destiny and were united in its defense. Today we have set political leaders who believe only in achieving and retaining powers. The nation is divided. There is the People Party heir to the great Bhutto untruth. There is the MQM and its claim Karachi to the exclusion of everything else. There is PML-N heir to Zia’s legacy of hate. There is the PML-F heir to Pagarah’s legacy. There is JI who caused so much misery in East Pakistan. There is deep division of Shia and Sunni and the persecution of the Hazaras in Balaucuhistan. There is the ANP who believes that everything should begin and end with Bacha Khan.  On this divided heritage we want to build a united Pakistan. Our enemies can celebrate because we our own worst enemies.

I now realize that is a vital link between PTI and its constituents has to be created; that link is “Entrepreneurship.” I do not believe that the number crunchers that have come up with the policy are in touch with the reality of Pakistan. It is not about Pakistani Ivy League Professors totaling the economy and measuring variables. It is about real people rolling up their sleeves and going to work to better their prospects. It is about plumbers, it is about masons, it is about plasterers, sanitary fitters and their like who have become major builders, it is about small people in the transport sector who started with single taxi and now own a fleet, it is about Faisalabad and iron mongers, it is about Sialkot and their economic miracle. How to build a city with its own airport and a thriving international trade. It is about Pakistan and it is people who take risk and reap the rewards. It is not about technicians crunching numbers. PTI has devised a technically good economic plan that has lost the soul of Pakistan and yet commands us to pay undivided attention.


My advise is own and encourage these entrepreneurs, facilitate their growth and you will have achieved a self sustaining a dynamic economy

Allah Ki Raza

 

Dear Zehra sahiba thank you for raising an important issue I cannot but agree that our religion is one of tolerance and welcomes forgiveness. Let me today express my understanding of the Quran and Sunnat-e- Rasool(PBUH) Allah. I want to clear cobwebs of the core belief of Islam

Let us begin with the observation that Allah has breathed His spirit into mankind and it is the spirit that makes mankind the chosen children of Allah. It is quiet clear that Allah has marked out mankind for his own. He has stated quiet clearly that all mankind from Adam onwards are his children and they should hold satan as their enemy. When Allah chose mankind to represent him, he at the same time directed them to beware of Satan who is their open enemy and sworn to mislead mankind.

 

Thereafter let me quote verses of the Quran to establish the truth.

 

Ayat-e-Karima “In the name of Allah the Most Beneficent, The most Merciful! The famous dua which is known as Tasbi E Yunus – La ilaha illa anta, Subhanaka, Inni kuntu minaz-zalimin (There is none worthy of Worship besides You, You are far exalted and above all weaknesses, Surely, I’ am from among the wrongdoers) that was recited by Hazrat Yunus AS inside the belly of the fish/whale is described in Surah Al-Anbiya (21) verses 87 and 88 as follows: “And remember Zun-nun, when he departed in wrath: He imagined that We had no power over him! But he cried through the depths of darkness, There is no god but thou: glory to thee: I was indeed wrong! So we listened to him: and delivered him from distress: and thus do we deliver those who have faith.”[21: 87-88]

 

 

 Recite The third Kalima "Subhanallah Walhamdulillah Wa La illaha illalah Allahu Akbar Wala Howla Wa La Quwata Illah Billah Hil Aleyeel Azeem" (There is no Power and Might except from Allah, The Most High, The Great).” and your devotion will be completed

Recite Kul Sharif three times and the devotion will be complete

Recite Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajioon five times and your devotion will be completed

Recite HasbunALLAH wa Ni'mal Wakil five times and your devotion will be completed

 

Thus does Allah command to worship Him?

Understand the expressions “Kun Fayakun” and you will know the extent of Allah’s blessings. For Him nothing is impossible. He command and so it is. Here then my prayer every night,  Oh Allah master of the day of judgment, express the command Kun Fayakum and I will be blessed. All my needs will be taken care of and I will be blessed, I will know Allah the reach of your blessings. Everything that I have ever wanted will be granted. In the wisdom of that blessing I will understand your reach; I will understand the meaning of your grace. I will know that you have accepted me and my existence in this universe has your blessings because certainly my hereafter can only be blessed if you accept me and cherish me. Oh Allah the maker and cherisher of this world who grants all mankind’s wishes. Oh master of the universe that responds to prayer and is omnipotent. Oh Allah this faqeer has placed his begging bowl in your service.
Oh Allah fill this bowl with your blessings and grant me all that is in my fate Oh Allah fill this bowl with the blessings Oh Allah oh Maalik, Oh Raab fill this bowl with faith, with livelihood, with honor in society, with long life and with knowledge. Oh Allah, Oh Maalik, Oh Raab; grant me blessings for I am in great need and Oh Allah, Oh Maalik, Oh Raab though be my witness that I need great need.   This prayer has to be repeated three times. Further to this we pray Oh Allah to you accept us, accept us and forgive us then our existence in this world and the hereafter will be successful. Oh Lord if though not accepts us then we will be disgraced, the world hereafter will be lost. Oh Lord we seek thy protection against this disgrace. Oh Lord we ask for protection through your mercy. Oh Lord, have mercy and protect us and announce that we have received protection and our rightly guided. Oh Lord we seek protection in your karamaat, Oh karim grant us protection and announce that we have received protection and are rightly guided. Oh Lord, we seek protection in your Fazilat, a Fazal grant us protection and announce that we have received protection and are rightly guided.

Oh Allah, protect me and bless me to overcome faults and guide me to salvation.

Oh Allah, grant that I am able to serve you and grant me these blessings.

 

Kur Rab-e-Zidni-Ilma , Wato izzu man tasha Wa tu zillo Mantasha

Hayati kulluha lillah

Iman , Rizq,

 TAQWA “And whoever fears Allah, for him Allah brings forth a way out, and gives him provision (rizq) from where he does not even imagine…” (Surah At-Talaq: 2/3)

It is two centuries now that the founding fathers of the American Federation met in Philadelphia and drew up a constitution that is perfect in every respect and should have served as a model for every country where a democratic dispensation is being crafted. Paul Krugman in International Herald Tribune (IHT) article dilates and length on how this crisis and bailouts would have occurred automatically in the American Federation.

To begin with there is no concept of a sovereign legislature in the US constitution; it is a perfect union of federating states. The Queen of England and the model she presents of a titular head of state and parliament has seduced the rest of the world to adopt this model. The consequences have been disastrous. Everywhere one sees coalitions. Coalition means sharing of power. Since the center cannot speak with one voice deal making is the order of the day. Deal making will always lead to financial corruption and loot and plunder and exploitation of the ordinary citizen.

 

The European Union (EU) has carried this coalition concept to a ridiculous extreme. Here not only is political power internally is in the hands of separate members of the union but a union itself is a masterpiece of imperfection. Imagine that the members sovereign in their own rights have not yet found a way to unified economic policy. The European central bank is ineffective. It cannot reign in inflation. It can only advise the constituents to keep inflation in check. It is amazing that the Europeans should insist on a single currency without a single economic agenda.

 

Now the crows are coming home to roost. Greece in only nominally with the union, it will be governed by a shaky coalition that will have to make difficult choices about the shape of the coalition and the respective representation of the coalition partners in the central government. The EU is victim of its own arrogance; it is hoisting its own petard. In the words of Krugman Greece is the victim of EU hubris.

I am reproducing from “Julius Caesar”—Shakespeare. The circumstances of his murder at the hands of Brutus. Therein lies a lesson for us in Pakistan.

 

What a fall was there my countrymen? Read this account and reflect we are about to destroy the independence of the Judiciary which has served the nation so well. Hold your daggers; let not your anger with Arsalan and his doting father lead you to throw the baby out with the bath water. I know that there are people who would like nothing better that to hold the CJP’s feet to the fire, so sternly has he in his judgments upset their calculations.

 

It needs to be explained why Justice Iftikhar could not isolate his love for his first born from his Judicial duties. This is a fault which was pointed out in the original reference of Musharraf.

 

Then the CJP toured the country and conquered our imagination. Wherever he went people thronged to pay tribute. Even now he is a hero internationally recognized for his contribution to the independence of the judiciary.

 

Today like Caesar he stands before the people ofPakistan awaiting judgment. Like Caesar, he leaves us a bountiful legacy. Let us cherish the legacy. Let us be judicious. Let us give the CJP his due. Permit him to complete his term and move on. If at this hour we let hatred and anger overcome our judgment, we will have surrendered to the likes of Arsalan and Riaz Malik. They want to drag us into the gutter with them. Let us not permit them to succeed.

I write this because of what Chaudry Shujat has said in defense of Malik Riaz If we are to follow this line of reasoning, everything else that is good and admirable in people is of no consequence.

 Because we all have to do is to bribe our way to our objectives. Contrast this with the behavior of Ted Turner of CNN of Warren Buffet and Bill Gates and of course my grandparents and what they for suffering humanity. Read from book “Footprints in the Sand” Page 77. But what do the heirs of Zia, know of service to humanity?

 

I write this because of the behavior of the press—the interview of the Duniya News anchors is now a matter of public record. The SCP is protesting the attitude of the media which is hostile to SCP and wants to make SCP controversial.

If there is hope for Pakistan, it lies in the independent Judiciary and the free media. Both these institutions are now vulnerable. There is no time to be lost a thorough clean up is necessary.

I demand in the name of suffering people of Pakistan that the establishment step back and let sanity prevail before this madness consumes us all.

Arsalan’s greed and Riaz Malik’s anger, I listened to Najam Sethi on Apas Ki Baat. He makes the point that Riaz Malik wants to drag the CJ into controversy and discredit him. A man with trillions of wealth who has bought and sold everyone inPakistan—is upset about a measly sum PKR350million, the sum is pocket money for a man so wealthy as Riaz Malik. It is his ego that has been hurt. He claims that he has been cheated which is true and can be documented. The fact is that Arsalan promised and did not deliver that part is easily verifiable but Riaz Malik wants to punish the CJ for having blocked so many of his ventures. So we do not know what the effects of this challenge to the integrity of the CJ will entail. As Najam Sethi has said the fall out can be disastrous for everyone. Sethi makes a point that it is the institution of the SCP that the lord and master of Pakistan; Malik Riaz seek to destroy, so that nothing can stand in his way.

I have suggested to Omer Qureshi that his analysis must be read with Najam Sethi’s observations to reveal the damage that Malik Riaz’s challenge to CJP epitomizes.

I cannot leave the subject without adding my own insight. Evidence will be demanded because Malik will not be denied. He will want evidence that is not impeachable that evidence can only be got by testimony which cannot be questioned.  

Note the origin of the word Testimony. It has to do with balls (Testis). Someone balls will have to be squeezed very hard to get to truth.

I read with great interest Kamran Khan’s exposure of  Riaz Malik and his attempt to corrupt Dr. Arsalan Chaudry. How systematically Riaz Malik had bribed Dr. Arsalan Chaudry to influence the decisions of Justice Iftikhar Chaurdry. It is a shameful saga. Supreme Court is investigating it. Quite wisely the CJ has recused   himself from hearing the case though there is not a slightest doubt in my mind that he would have done justice.

I realized then that the mighty oak has been exploited by parasites feeding on its generosity. I realized then that the CJ was a mighty oak tree and Malik Riaz and Dr. Arsalan Chaudry were parasites; feeding on the oak tree that was CJ. My visit to Kolkata botanical gardens was rewarded. I had the unique pleasure of listening to Sir David Attenborough discuss wasp’s eggs and oak honey. Where there is an oak tree there will be wasps.  Where there is an oak tree there will be honey bees.

My search more than rewarded, I have the recorded history of the oak which has played such a significant role in shaping mankind’s destiny. 

 

I am of course no stranger to the phenomenon of oak trees, wasps and honey bees. We lost the Galee pardise because of parsites; Hussain Kassim Dada lost his empire because of parsites. Adam Haji Peer Mohammad lost his empire beacuse of parasites. There is a fabulaous fortune of the three Bantva giants lying unclaimed all over the world beacuse the heirs have no time to claim it. Its amzaing, is it not that such vast wealth is lying unclaimed. I was in Petta in Colombo which is the main whole sale market of Colombo. The Sun never sets on this market, it goes on and on and do you know that half of that market belongs to the three giants of Bantva. Fourth cross street was the fiefdom of my grandfather Haji Habib Haji Peer Mohammad Calcuttawala. Third cross street was the fiefdom of Adam Haji Peer Mohammad, Sixth cross street was the fiefdom of Hussin Kassim Dada. Why is nobody claiming the fortune? It is beacuse the heirs have had no time to claim for this fortune. Its about wasp and honey bees. Read my book "Footprints in the Sand" and you will understand.

The interview contains a gem of revelation. Chaudry Nisar Khan reveals the content of the message from Zardari that had been conveyed through Malik Riaz. The gist of the message is that Zardari was willing to dump Yousaf Raza Gillani. And would leave choice of his replacement to PML-N either Shahbaz Sharif or Ishaq Dar would be acceptable. I had said earlier that when the time came Zardari would be merciless. He would dump Yousaf Raza Gillani and appoint somebody else. I was only partly right.

Re-orientation of our Foreign Policy. Let us learn from Germany

Muhammad Ali Siddiqui has done a great service to the people of Pakistan and the Dawn deserves our gratitude for having drawn our attention to the German history and the lessons it has forPakistan’s foreign policy. Not for a moment am I suggesting that Pakistan is a defeated nation. It is still free and the people of Pakistan still have a chance to redeem Jinnah’s vision.

 

For that to happen Pakistan will need years of peace and re-orientation of its foreign policy. At the moment the country had a tendency to shoot itself in the foot. It has the tendency to court international isolation in its mistaken search for sovereign recognition.

 

 No treaty like Versailles will be imposed on Pakistan. But Pakistan has to realize that it cannot take the international opinion lightly and still be spared humiliation.

It may be that we will not learn. It may well be left with the people of Pakistan as it was left to German people after Versailles to reclaim their identity and their sovereignty.

I would have willingly passed the opportunity to comment on this budget. I had said what I wanted to in my scoop titled, “Suffer Little Children” I have played too much bridge not to know the value of “No bid pass.” The articles in the Dawn today are so pregnant with meaning and so supportive of my arguments that I am tempted to reproduce them and add my comments.

I have known Saqib for a long time. He has been my student at IBA and I well aware of his satire and tongue in cheek, method of discussion. He has been polite in the discussion and written the finance minister is economical with the truth and as a practitioner of finance wanting in credibility. They are the rag pickers, the Thallawallas, the street vendors of food. But does he know? Does he care? Does he care that thousands of people are committing suicide? Does he care that organized cheating is taking place in the school examinations? Does he care that educational institutions are the Otaqs of the feudal? He is totally confused; twenty people will lead a revolution and recreate Quaid’s Pakistan? ”

He writes of the necessity to control public debt “A corporate bond market, which is only viable if an orderly market for government paper exists, could also then become a reality. To conclude, we must act pre-emptively to forestall larger problems later. Bringing domestic debt under control, under a comprehensive programme, is an imperative now”

So here it is either we reform or we are through. All this business of more taxation is not going to help either we institute the deepening of the debt market or we are done. The goose is cooked.  

 

Finallay I submit that this government has missed all it targets expcet for the targeted killing of unfortune people of Karachi. It is only when somneone from the public will do to one of the coalition members what was done to Indra Ganhdi or Salman Taseer that the people will find relief from this madness.
