Fernando González

Fernando González's insight:

As a group we had the idea of creating this Video Lyrics with a Stop Motion of Sticky Notes. In the process, the three of us took a lot of pictures, probably more than a hundred, one of us took pictures meanwhile the other two put and took all the Sticky Notes. After having all the photos we took turns to edit the video putting all the pictures together changing according with the lyrics of the song. Each one of us gave his opinion to write the descriptive report of the video which the link will be at the end of thins insight. After all, we worked together to bring out the best of each other to make this beautiful meaningful video.

To be honest, I have really enjoyed the experience working on this Lyric Video because it is a creative idea of writing a small phrase or word from the lyrics of the song in different type styles. Plus, it's also a great strategy to encourage young people to spread love, peace, kindness and acceptance.

We shouldn't discriminate against others just because they way they are. We have to support and respect other people's rights. So let's not let a few people who stand in our way wreck that. Its ok to be different because that's what makes you special. Just be yourself, that's it. :-)

The latest TREND in user interface: Flat Design

The latest TREND in user interface: Flat Design | Graphic Design | Scoop.it

“Flat User Interface Design is a design language currently used in the creation of various graphical user interfaces. The Flat Design refers to a style of interface design which removes any stylistic design choices that gives the three dimensional effect and hence is focused upon the minimal use of simple elements, Flat Colors and Typography.”

Fernando González's insight:

This article describes Flat Design as both beautiful and functional design. Also how simplifies the visual richness by using simple elements, such as buttons, icons and typography. It relies on a clear sense of hierarchy in the design and placement of elements to make successful projects easy for users to understand and interact with.

In my opinion is a really sophisticated and versatile design trend, based on the classic, simple elements and it focuses on users, on usability, cleanness and open space to a very user-centered interface for websites. Nowadays, it’s important because we’re living in a society where everyday, we come up with new ideas, inherit and develop ideas from others. So, that’s why we have to know What’s New? What’s Happening?

Paris Photo 2014 : Christopher Williams at David Zwirner Gallery

Paris Photo 2014 : Christopher Williams at David Zwirner Gallery | Graphic Design | Scoop.it

"For its third consecutive year participating in Paris Photo, David Zwirner presents a solo booth of recent and new work by Christopher Williams."

Fernando González's insight:

This article talks about  Christopher Williams’ work as a critical investigation of the medium of photography and more broadly the vicissitudes of industrial culture, in particular its structures of representation and clasificación. Using the process of reproduction as a point of entry, the artist manipulates the conventions of advertising, the superficiality of surface, and ultimately te history of Modernism.

In my opinion these photographers are good enough to create photos that provoke feelings,  emotions and open minds to the viewers. I find photography to be an amazing form of art, nothing like it’s cousins. A great photo is inspirational and ground breaking. These days anyone can be a great photographer, but it must learn how to photograph clean simple lines, straightforward colors, simple compositions, and highly contrasted objects.

The Design Bible Behind New York City’s Subway

The Design Bible Behind New York City’s Subway | Graphic Design | Scoop.it

“The New York City’s Subway was a confusing mess in the 1960s. In 1967, the New York City Transit Authority decided to do something about it. They hired Massimo Vignelli and Bob Noorda of the design firm Unimark International to design an improved signage and wayfinding system.”

Fernando González's insight:

This article talks about New York’s Subway System, which was created by Italian Graphic Design legend Massimo Vignelli, best known as one of the world’s most influential Graphic Designers who created Visual Identities and credited with popularizing the Swiss typeface, “Helvetica” in the U.S. Also for working with clients like American Airlines, Knoll and Bloomingdale’s.

Basically, this book is really helpful because it brings us a lot of examples of how to create elements such as typography, spacing and choosing excellent color combinations; also it is a good way to know where you at, where to go and how to get there because 42 years ago subway riders didn’t find it sufficiently user-friendly.

How to Choose the Best Colors for Your Presentations

How to Choose the Best Colors for Your Presentations | Graphic Design | Scoop.it

“The choice of colors for presentation slides is one of the important decisions that must be made at the start of the process of developing your slides. So…How do you choose?”

Fernando González's insight:

This article is about how important is the choice of colors for presentation slides, because it can quickly become a surprisingly difficult task. It’s easy to know when color combinations don’t look good, but it’s tougher to figure out what actually works.

I personally think that at this point color plays an important role in designing PowerPoint slides. Also helps in making any kind of presentation and advertisement as they are the most effective tool for designing a slide. Nowadays, colors are considered to be important because these not only ‘deliver some message’ but also ‘create different set of ideas’.

Therefore, it's required to spent lots of time selecting the best and the most matchingcombinations.
