Dorian Payton's insight:

This article left out a lot of details in its description of the senario.  They never specified the condition that the birds were in after they hit the ground. then, while they were transporting the birds, one of them got loose and escaped a moving vehicle?  There was not details on the vehicle or the way in which the bird was able to escape.  also nowhere stated was some kind of injury report to know if there was any reason to keep the remaining eagle for treatment..

2 Weeks, 3 States: Minnesota Becomes the 12th State to Legalize Marriage Equality

2 Weeks, 3 States: Minnesota Becomes the 12th State to Legalize Marriage Equality | Gov & Law - Dorian Payton | Scoop.it
Six months after becoming the first sate to reject a constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage, Minnesota will become the twelfth state to legalize it.

Via Cathryn Wellner
Dorian Payton's insight:

I am glad that same-sex marriage is going to be legalized in MN.  Although I was already under the impression that it was legalized.  When the amendment to ban same-sex marriage was rejected, I guess I assumed that it meant that same-sex marriage was legal by default.  I was wrong apparently, but at least there wasn't much time in between the rejection to ban and th lagalization.

Article by: MARK BRUNSWICK , Star Tribune; Updated: May 1, 2013 - 11:49 PM.
Dorian Payton's insight:

I don't have any predisposed notion on whether illegal immigrants should receive the same benefits as citizens, but it is nice to see that equality and diversity continues to spread across the nation.  Minnesota gets a pretty good rep for this as well.

Why must people try to erupt more conflict after tragedy strikes?  as if people don't have enough to deal with.  Conspiracy theorists should keep quiet until evidence can be brought forth.

Elementary School Civics Lesson on First Amendment Upsets Parents

Insight: I find it funny whenever parents get mad at the school for something the student did in class. they are just causing unnecessary conflict, and any situation can easily be taken out of context.
MsHaeussinger's curator insight, April 19, 2013 1:40 PM

What a great and timely story! Would you be willing to accept fewer rights in order to be more secure?

Jordan's comment, April 22, 2013 1:34 PM
I think this wouldn't be an issue if the kids weren't in elementary school. At that point they have no idea what their rights or anything are so i don't understand why they're teaching it to them

Insight: I don't think the states have the power to do something like that. I also do not see how passing this law would help with gun safety. they are only trying to keep their guns and be able to modify them however they like.

I think everyone should be concerned over the threat of north korea. Although they probably lose any war they would start the threat still remains at large of them launching a missle.
allie krings's comment, April 14, 2013 9:58 PM
I agree, Jordan, that we should all be concerned, however, if China sides AND fights with North Korea, it could be a real problem. Think of all the things we have made in China. Actually, think of ten things you have that ARE NOT made in China (that's more difficult). I don't understand why North Korea is blocking this complex from South Korea. I don't understand why Kim Jong-un feels the need to prove his power he now has. Sigh. Where is Miss America and her world peace?
Dorian Payton's comment, April 15, 2013 1:43 AM
I think without China, North Korea has lost whatever influence they might have had before the fact.

Obama is learning from his mistakes.  Faced with the immigration problem, he created a bill in which an equal party of republican and democrats were present.  This would hopefully eliminate the chance to happen to this bill like what happened with the recent gun control bill.

Senate Approves Bill that Legalizes Sodomy and Bestiality in U.S. Military

Senate Approves Bill that Legalizes Sodomy and Bestiality in U.S. Military | Gov & Law - Dorian Payton | Scoop.it

Senate on Thursday evening voted 93-7 to approve a defense authorization bill that includes a provision which not only repeals the military law on sodomy, it also repeals the military ban on sex with animals--or bestiality.

“It’s all about using the military to advance this administration’s radical social agenda,” Perkins told CNSNews.com. “Not only did they overturn Don’t Ask Don’t Tell, but they had another problem, and that is, under military law sodomy is illegal, just as adultery is illegal, so they had to remove that prohibition against sodomy.”

Perkins said removing the bestiality provision may have been intentional--or just “collateral damage”

Dorian Payton's insight:

There aren't many things that can make me mad, but i've made an exception for this.  Topics of this nature sick-natured and immoral.  The reason why someone would want this is beyond me.  Even to fulfill some alterior motif, I question the individuals who backed this bill

there is no logical argument against gun control. People who are against gun control fight it to fulfill a selfish agenda. A high number of republicans use their influence to keep gun control laws from passing, so that it won't restrict the amount of money going into thier pockets

From 18th Amendment to electioneering

THE National Assembly passed the XVIII Amendment Bill on April 8, 2010, which became part of the constitution after the opposition PML-N and the ruling PPP stalwarts agreed to certain amendments about future governance, and by virtue of the 18th Amendment these parties also assumed a role to elect a caretaker government. The 18th Amendment should have been for the betterment of the people, but it is generally believed that it provided strength to the political parties and their leaders who earlier got a role in the formation of the Election Commission of Pakistan . If parliamentarians want political stability, they should have involved the judiciary in the process of the ECP`s formation, but they preferred taking all power in their hands. Through the 18th Amendment, the CEC and four members of the Election Commission were appointed on the recommendation of a parliamentary committee, composed of members of the ruling party and the so-called opposition, which actually was in power in Punjab. They elected Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim as the CEC. Although Mr Ebrahim is an honest man, he cannot take decisions independently. His decisions were revised by four members of the ECP who were elected by the ruling and opposition parties. After the completion of their tenure by the PPP and other coalition parties in the centre and PML-N in Punjab, ANP in KP and all ministers` coalition government in Balochistan, and the PPP and the coalition MQM in Sindh, family members. Cane crushing season in Sindh has ended a long time back, but growers are, as usual, yet to be paid their dues against sugar cane supplied to the mills.

This highhandedness of mill owners, withholding dues of growers, has been going on for a long time. As these mill owners are contesting elections, there is a window of opportunity and hope for the poor growers during this period if the ECP ensures that all outstanding dues are cleared prior to their entering the race.
