Video: Truck Driver Stands Up To Unconstitutional Checkpoint

Video: Truck Driver Stands Up To Unconstitutional Checkpoint | Gov & Law Amendments | Scoop.it

A truck driver who passed through an unconstitutional checkpoint 30 miles from the Mexican border stood up for his 4th Amendment rights by refusing to answer questions in another example of how Americans are re-asserting their liberties.

Andrew Lawrence's insight:

Holy cow this guy has got guts! I would have been terrified to not answer the questions...but this trucker is right! He had and has the right to not answer any questions. Beautiful performance of upholding our rights and freedoms right there. We aren't prisoners in a violent country. We are free citizens. Gah. 'Murica.

I'm really impressed by the cold-heartedness of this man who's brave enough to stand up and fight for his rights. He seems to know very well his rights and he doesn't give up even when the officer becomes more and more inquisitive. Great example of a battle for rights.

This truck driver had some  crazy bravery to stick up to the border patrol. And though he got pretty lucky he did have the right to do what he did. He held his ground when there was no probable cause and the border patrol had violated the 4th amendment or were about to. The man also plead the fifth in which he has the right to.

I think it takes a lot of courage to stand up to any patrol. This man stood up for his rights of the fourth and fifth amendment. I think he did the right thing.

Andrew Lawrence's insight:

Holy Cow. Instead of getting anything productive done in the senate, Paul speaks for hours because he doesn't like another dude....Really Rand? Really?

I disagree with your opinion of the Senator. We could agree with the President on the possibility of an attack, in particular circumstances, in the American territory, to prevent bigger troubles but I'm personally impressed by Senator Rand Paul. He stood up and talked, in front of the whole Senate, for more than twelve hours straight in order to bring the public attention to this issues and to explain his point of view. I think this is a great way to support and express an opinion.

The Daily Show: Recap - Week of 2/19/13

Great Britain finds horsemeat in its burgers, Republicans filibuster Chuck Hagel, Jessica Williams goes to Texas, and Steven Brill discusses the health care ...
Andrew Lawrence's insight:

Amazed that the world can be distracted by such little things at a time....but Jon Stewart makes everything so funny....so more posts from him will come.

On another note, I gotta say, Mississippi just now passing the 13th amendment is sad. At least they ratified it now.

Uh oh>>>@RealBenCarson Says Second Amendment Rights Should Be Location-Based: No AR-15/AK Class Rifles In Large Cities

Uh oh>>>@RealBenCarson Says Second Amendment Rights Should Be Location-Based: No AR-15/AK Class Rifles In Large Cities | Gov & Law Amendments | Scoop.it

Dr. Benjamin Carson On Gun Control: "It Depends On Where You Live"

Mediaite: Asked by Beck for his thoughts on the Second Amendment, Carson gave the popular pro-gun argument: “There’s a reason for the Second Amendment; people do have the right to have weapons.”

But when asked whether people should be allowed to own “semi-automatic weapons,” the doctor replied: “It depends on where you live.”

“I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I’m afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it,” Carson elaborated.

However, if you live “out in the country somewhere by yourself” and want to own a semi-automatic weapon, he added, “I’ve no problem with that.”

Andrew Lawrence's insight:

Interesting take on it. This may be what the country needs. Don't give up the right for guns, just limit the location. Dr. Carson may be just another political analyst looking for attention, but his theory shows some promise. What he said about guns falling into the hands of crazy people is true; you're more likely to find them in cities. So why not limit rifles to the open country?

What a shame....he may have ended any political future with this statement. Our Constitutional rights are unalienable rights that are not limited by government but should be protected by our government. The Constitution limits the powers of the government not the rights of the people.

This article is going through an interview where Dr. Carson explains his views.  He believes that it should be allowed to own guns! however, with the more dangerous guns, he believes it should depend on where you live.  I think that specific guns should be allowed for anyone, while some only special people should have.

littlebytesnews's comment, March 16, 2013 2:32 PM
Limiting them to location will only limit law abiding citizens. Criminals will never comply with the law regardless of location.
