Rubio: Obama Is a 'Bad President'

Florida Senator Marco Rubio told the GOP convention the problem with President Barack Obama isn't that he's a bad person __ it's that he's a bad president wh...
Heidi Watts's insight:

Senator Marco Rubio from Florida talks about Obama and how he is a bad president. In a way, I agree with this statement. Obama has said so many things that he was going to do, but almost none of them have happened. He has also put us in to trillions of dollars of debt. This is not going to help America out one bit.

Where you'll feel forced spending cuts

Where you'll feel forced spending cuts | Gov & Law! | Scoop.it
Most will feel forced budget cuts when their lives intersect with government -- trying to get through an airport, at national parks, or government programs
Heidi Watts's insight:

I think having spending cuts is a bad idea. Many people already have financial issues. If they took away more money, people wouldn't be able to survive.

Touch-screen kiosks installed downtown to help visitors

Touch-screen kiosks installed downtown to help visitors | Gov & Law! | Scoop.it
In an effort to make Rochester more visitor-friendly, the city and its marketing agency, the Rochester Convention & Visitors Bureau, have installed informational, touch-screen kiosks around the downtown area.
Heidi Watts's insight:

In this article, they explain how new touch screen kiosks are going to be put into the dowtown Rochester area. I think that this will be very convenient! With Mayo Clinic, there are many people who have never been here before so having these will help people find where they need to go! It would also be cool if they made them solar powered so that they could save money from it.

CBS Runs Segment: 'Let's Give Up on the Constitution'

CBS Runs Segment: 'Let's Give Up on the Constitution' | Gov & Law! | Scoop.it
By Todd Starnes, FOX News RadioCharles Osgood, the host of CBS Sunday Morning, shocked many viewers when he introduced a segment that called for the abolishment of the U.S. Constitution.
Heidi Watts's insight:

In this video, Charles Osgood suggests that we give up on the Constitution. Many of our presidents had doubts about the Constitution and obten disobeyed it. He talks about gun control and how it can be an issue when it is constituionalized. He says how we shouldn't have people who died over 2 centuries ago to control our country. Osgood calls the Constitiution 'out-dated'. I believe that we should not give up on the Constitution. It has kept the United States 'sane'. If the world ran without rules, we would all go crazy. Take school for example; if we didn't have rules to follow, where would we all be? Overall, I believe that giving up on the Constitution would be a very bad idea, even if it was written many years ago.

I think that the video is really intersting due to the fact that they would even think about giving up the constitution. I think giving up the constitution would be a very bad idea no matter how long ago it was written.
Alex Roeder's comment, February 6, 2013 10:44 PM
I think its funny how they want to give up on the constitution. The Constitution is the building block of America so getting rid of it would be the wrong thing to do. The world would be chaos.

Unemployment Rate Same Today As It Was When Obama First Took Office - CBS DC

Unemployment Rate Same Today As It Was When Obama First Took Office - CBS DC | Gov & Law! | Scoop.it
Even though much has changed the past four years, President Barack Obama begins his second term with one thing that hasn’t: the unemployment rate.
Heidi Watts's insight:

In this article, it talks about the unemployment rate and how it has not decreased since Obama's first term. In 2009, the umeployment rate was 7.8% and today it is 7.8%. Although during his first term, the unemployment did rate up to 10% being an all time high. I think that this needs to change. The unemployment rate should not be this high. It has affected millions of people in the US.

Unemployment has been a big issue in this economy. This country needs to find ways to increase employment oppurtunities and keep the employment at a steady rate.

How do you think the government should remedy this?

Long-Term Unemployment Now a Thing of the Past?

Long-Term Unemployment Now a Thing of the Past? | Gov & Law! | Scoop.it
The long-term unemployed are having an easier time finding jobs — and the problem of long-term joblessness may disappear in the months ahead.
Heidi Watts's insight:

In this article, it talks about how the unemployment rate is 7.9%. According to CNBC, the unemployment rate may decrease in the months to come. I think that this is really good news. Coming from personal experience, my family has struggled with unemployment. Millions of other people have had the same problem. Having the unemployment rate decrease will help people so that they have more income coming in to help pay for things.
