Google to shutdown Orkut social network by September

EducateSquare's insight:

In a latest release by the internet search giant Google, it is likely that it will shutdown its one of the first social networks Orkut by the end of September 2014.

Orkut will cease to exist after September this year, the company’s first social network which was launched 10 yearsago in 2004. The social network was particularly very popular in India and Brazil, but could not do well in other parts of the world and ultimately lost its users to the rivals like Facebook. In India, Orkut wasn’t able to hold for long as it fell to Facebook in 2010.
