Teach teachers how to create magic

Teach teachers how to create magic | God...The Grind & What's Good | Scoop.it

What do rap shows, barbershop banter and Sunday services have in common? As Christopher Emdin says, they all hold the secret magic to enthrall and teach at the same time — and it’s a skill we often don't teach to educators.

Fred Lynch's insight:

Edutainment. Jesus was one of the best with his parables. Great story!

House Churches Swap Steeples For Sofas, And Say They've Never Been Closer

House Churches Swap Steeples For Sofas, And Say They've Never Been Closer | God...The Grind & What's Good | Scoop.it
With new church construction at an ebb, many Christians are treating this modern problem with an ancient solution: moving congregations out of brick-and-mortar churches and into their own homes.

Via BullardJournal
Fred Lynch's insight:

I came to Christ and was discipled in a 'House Church'. It wasn't till after I grew up in the Lord did I join a church, and honestly I've been trying to recreate that genuine experience for people ever since.  Do you think 'House Churchers' are off, or are we in the institutionalized church could learn something from them?

Fred Lynch's insight:

I still listen to Pryor every now and then to remember how to deeply laugh at pain, hold on to humanity despite humiliation, and realize genius clothed in contradiction. I want to see this film. If you're a fan of Pryor PLEASE read his book Pryor Convictions it was a great read.

Jewelelelel's curator insight, February 8, 2015 7:56 AM

I agree with the fact that recently, students have been 'trained' to give the correct and not ask smart questions. In school ,teachers usually ask us questions and if we answer that correctly, we get praised. For subjects sciences and humanities require a lot of questioning and thinking in order to understand and to learn  more quickly. In my opinion, i think that teachers should give students a chance to ask questions that they have and not go through a topic blindly. If the students is shy to ask, the teacher could create a website so that the whole class can ask questions whenever they feel like and both the teachers and students themselves can answer the questions. This would enable the student to think out of the box to ask and answer questions by themselves

Interesting article. I heard it said that The Church began in houses (P2P model) and someday will go back to houses (P2P model).  The only part of this article that gets a lil' off to me is the demand that there is no set authority, to me that means that the crowd rules and if the blind lead the blind....What do you think?

All hip hop heads were raised on phrases from artists who not only rocked mics, but rocked our hearts, minds and souls.

I was raised:

'wondering how to keep from going under'

knowing that it's tricky to rock a rhyme

'discovering It's not about a salary it's all about reality'

learning you can't trust a big butt and a smile'

tellin folks that I ain't no joke while thinking of a master plan

Of course I can go ON AND ON TILL THE BREAK...

What your eyes take in around you will affect your creativity and focus. That means it can help to vary your lighting source depending on the type of work you're doing.
Fred Lynch's insight:

I think that bringing attention to the power of your 5 senses and learning how to use them mindfully is an amazing form of meditation. Meditation is based in mindfulness and this is a strong way to meditate.  I even advocate bringing the use of the 5 senses into meditation on the scriptures.  For example, what about meditating on Psalm 23 and visualizing Jesus in front of you as the 'Good Shepherd'...hear the sounds of a sheep pen (gotta work that imagination right??)...smell the...well, you get that! Imagine feeling the oil run down you as he cares for you!  Now that's shouting material!  Tell me, what's a good passage to bring all senses to for you?
