This Is What's Wrong With Your Content - Forbes | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert

This Is What's Wrong With Your Content - Forbes | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert | Goacid | Scoop.it
From a marketing perspective, the content landscape is a mess.

Condensed...

Here are some narcissistic tendencies that will sabotage your digital strategy:

Blatant self-promotion:

You’re here to find actionable insight that will make you a better businessperson. The second I shove a product in your face, you’ll click away — possibly never to return.

“Subtle” self-promotion: While you’ve managed to write an article without bragging about yourself outright, you’ve populated it with dozens of links to your product. Readers will see right through this and feel betrayed.

Irrelevant self-talk:

Again, your content shouldn’t be about you; it’s about your reader. Save the irrelevant self-talk for your diary. It isn’t damaging, per se, but it does nothing to enrich the lives of your readers. Hearing about your awesome martinis doesn’t make anyone respect you; it just makes them thirsty.

No one wants to reach out to you then receive self promotion. If you do that, you're toast. You need to deliver important information that will help them professionally and personally. Do that and you'll be recognized as an expert and the SME in your field.

So what's really driven the importance of content? The role that it plays in marketing automation? How it feeds the sales cycle? Or has Google raised the visibilty and importance of solid content as a part of its algorithm?

Valuable data is shared across multiple examples and research.

4twenty2's curator insight, October 28, 2013 10:00 AM

"2,000 adults surveyed last year found that 83% are willing to spend more on a product or service if they feel a personal connection to the company"

An undisputable fact that means everyone should spend more time on the customer experience to make a business successful.

Thanks 4twenty2 for your comment, I certainly agree with you.

17 Best Inbound Marketing Blogs 2013

17 Best Inbound Marketing Blogs 2013 | Goacid | Scoop.it

Regardless of being a brand or persona, our goal is to be seen as a source.Something people can rely on with their expectations for our niche content.

The following inbound marketing blogs are my personal favorites, for two main reasons:

1. They consistently create top internet marketing content

2. As a blog, they are live examples of how to achieve inbound marketing success.

It’s a bit circular, how the greatest inbound marketing blogs are, in themselves, the best examples of inbound marketing. At any rate, here they are...

Content marketing goes mainstream | B2B Content Marketing | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert

Content marketing goes mainstream | B2B Content Marketing | #TheMarketingAutomationAlert | Goacid | Scoop.it

Excerpt...

Content marketing has become a key element of b2b marketing today, according to a new study by BtoB, “2013 Content Marketing: Top Tools, Benchmarks and Metrics for Success.”

Based on an online survey of 197 b2b marketers conducted in August, the study found that 97% use some degree of content marketing. Further, 26% of respondents said their content marketing initiatives are “very” or “fully” integrated into their sales and marketing initiatives, compared with just 16% last year. Looking ahead to 2014, 57% of marketers will be “very” or “fully” engaged in content marketing, according to the study.

The reason: Good, relevant content can subtly influence marketing conversations, improving perceptions of companies, brands and products.

I don't think there's any B2B marketer out there right now that doesn't understand the importance of content as a part of their marketing mix.
