Is soccer really a big four sport? | Global Soccer Styles | Scoop.it

This graphs puts a smile on my face. While the rest of America sees the NHL as more of a national sport, soccer has quickly took over the fourth spot in the rankings.

US Development Academy

US Development Academy | Global Soccer Styles | Scoop.it

For one time in my life the US Soccer has finally done something right with trying to improve there player development to put US Soccer on the global map with the likes of Brazil, Argentina and the European Giants. This is one step on a long journey for USA Soccer to become a force to be reckoned with. Since 2008 you can already see upgrades in Americas youth soccer system. Sending more kids out of the country to go pursue a professional career else where in Europe and South America.

FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCE

When US Soccer came out with this in 2007 and began tryouts in 2008 I was 15(1993) trying out for the NE Revolution trying out for the U16 academy team(92-93). At the first tryouts there was over 500 kids from around the northeast looking to make the Revs (18-20 spots). After 5 long call back tryouts I had made the final cut with one tryout left on Gilette Stadium with plenty of top notch coaches watching for the next golden one. Well I didn’t make the final squad but I did beat out over 475 kids which half were a year older. Since then I’ve made plenty of US Development academy teams which I decided to stay with my home town team out of URI in my last years of premier soccer with my buddys. Many of my close soccer friends have gone on to play on US developmental Academy’s throughout New England and almost all have succeeded to a College soccer career. Some of my friends wouldn’t have done it without the Developmental Academy.

M.L.S. Salary Figures

M.L.S. Salary Figures | Global Soccer Styles | Scoop.it

"Major League Soccer's players union has released player salary figures for 2011."

It's safe to safe that some NFL, NBA, MLB and even NHL players make enough money or more to buy out some of these MLS teams payrolls...

Should we take into consideration what the European and the South American Futebol starts are making? I dont really want to get into but I will. Neymar a 19 year old Brazilian born soccer player, who still plays in the Brazils Serie A is making 13.8 million dollars. Correct me if im wrong but it seems to me that he himself is worth any team in the MLS.

Wait, I was born in 1993. So that makes me older then the MLS.(1996)

This has got to be a joke considering Flamengo FC from Brazil was founded in the late 1880's.

Thats old but 1996 to be creating a Professional league in America; the land of opportunities is just down right outrageous.

New USA coach to challenge the world's best teams

New USA coach to challenge the world's best teams | Global Soccer Styles | Scoop.it

I am really starting to like this guy (Jurgen Klinsmann).

Coming out of this fight not just throwing jabs, no Klinsmann is throwing haymakers.

Hes not scheduling easy games for the USMNT like all the coaches have done in the past. He is going right for the European Giants, He scheduled a game with 2006 World Cup Champions Italy. Not only did have the US never have beaten the Italian Squad but Italy was working on a 22 game win streak. USA shocked the Soccer world. Are they suddenly one of the worlds best, No. But they are certianly on the map
