E.r.i.k.a's insight:

This video is about:

True stories about some HIV patients.

How I felt:

Upon hearing the term 'HIV' or more commonly known as 'Aids', many people will automatically link to it being dirty, unwelcomed, and disgusting. The HIV positive victims are often shuned and discriminated by others as though they are pests on the streets. But do they deserve this? I don't think so. Just like the characters in the video, many HIV positive people look, behave, and think like any normal being in the society. Just because they chose to do something not widely accepted in the society, and have unfortunately contracted aids, that doesn't mean that they have committed any crime or misdeeds. Aids is contagious and incurable which nobody wants to contract it, thus I can understand why most people would avoid contact with HIV victims. But then again, how many are aware that HIV virus can only be transmitted by blood or sexual intercourse? Which means to say, to talk, play, eat, and hug with someone with aids, is alright. It is unfair for the HIV victims to be excluded from the society, to be discriminated by the crowd, and to be judged just based on their health condition. Are all HIV victims morally tainted? Are all non HIV victims morally upright? Why draw a clear line against others without even knowing who they really are? As other common types of discriminations are being brought up to the society to create awareness and advocate acceptance, I think that the acceptance of HIV victims in the society should also be more widely promoted.
